This is sad

So early on in my current save I had a meet up with the vault tech rep. After hearing his story I did my best to put on the happy face and told him he could go back to Sanctuary. That was over 5 days of game play ago and only after learning he can become a special merchant I started to wonder what happened to him. I returned to Sanctuary but he wasn't to be found. I ended up checking all of my settlements and he wasn't at any. After dealing with Doc Anderson I figured he was just lost in the world and I was going to use console commands to summon him but first I wanted to finish my bobblehead collection so I fast traveled to the Mass Fuzion building. I couldn't believe it as the first thing I saw was the dead body of that vault rep. For those that don't know that fast travel point is a stones throw from the front door of Good Neighbor. The poor chap survived a nuclear war and the 200+ years of hell that followed only to get gunned down no more than 50 feet out the door after a promise of some peace of mind from ghosts of the past. I am not even sure what would have killed him at that spot it must have just been some horrible timing on his part.

He's very squishy.

I escorted him to Santuary Hills.

Clearing ahead as I went.

He walks a dangerous (slow) path.

It took me the best part of 2 hours (24 in game) to get him there.

As long as you are nowhere near him he should be fine. He made it to sanctuary by himself with no trouble on this current playthrough. Its only if you are there that encounters are triggered - or at least that was the way it worked in previous beth games.

He had not problem getting back to Sanctuary for me. Heck he even survived an accidentaly re-route and stint as a guard in Oberland Station before I learned he could boost a store.

I am ok with him being dead so no big deal but is it possible to resurrect him and if so how do I do that? For me I was just shocked that he died that quickly.

That is pretty ironic and sad! :nope:

If you are on PC, you can go to the console (use the ~ key), click on his body and type: resurrect and hit enter.

Haven't tried ressing NPCs in FO 4 yet, but that usually works in all other Beth games.

Yeah, as long as you're not in a loaded cell with him, he'll make it jsut fine. Just take a lengthy nap at Rexford before sending him back and you'll be fine.

It's the same for that damn beer robot. After hours of struggling to get him through super mutant and raider infested territory in my first play through, I realized this time that I could just send him along and then wait inside the place where you find him. He'll make it back on his own without issue.

I picked him up quite a few times. He never got lost.
