Is this safe?

Apologies for the atrocious title.

Basically, I've made a hideout out a large amount of statics, activators and misc items, but assigned them unique IDs so that I can mass disable them to give the illusion that the hideout has vanished at a later stage of the quest. My question is, would it be safe to disable these misc items, considering the fact that the player is able to pick them up and/or use them? I know that I could assign them the nopickup script, but I'd like to avoid that if I can.

In other words, hypothetically if the player was to pick up misc item X, and a script later disabled X, would there be issues?

I've briefly tested this with a unique ID light. Disabling it while it was in the player's inventory has no apparent adverse effect (no CTD, no encumbrance issues). Neither does disabling it while it is equipped. However, I'm still uncertain about this. It seems like something which could lead to problems.

Any thoughts?
