After a full play through I'll put F3 aside for a while but eventually I'll get the urge to go through it again. Every time I do I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. It helps to mod just a few things to keep it interesting but even with that at a minimum I just really enjoy this game. The stories, the size, the vast number of things to do. I just love wandering around the wilderness discovering stuff. I've played it a bit differently each time and that helps keep it fresh too but overall it's one of the best games out there in my book. I'm in the middle of my 6th or 7th time through now and just felt like sharing that. Thank you Bethesda for making masterpieces like this.

I had three very distinct playthroughs in the game, trying different types of characters. It's not a game I can play back to back run-throughs, I find it somewhat, well, melancholy, in tone and a bit intense. But when I start another time through, I end up enjoying it. And each time I have found stuff I didn't in the previous runs

I haven't played Fallout 3 in ages. I played it obsessively for ages then put it down and it has gathered dust. I bought the game of the year edition but due to school work haven't got through all the dlc, I feel detached from my character so I will make a new one.

I realised I have missed so many things and although I use the fallout vault wiki for stuff I decided to buy the GOTY prima guide because I'm hoping it will be the same quality of the Oblivion guide (I never actually owned but borrowed it and it was a joy to just read). I have been putting off playing it until it's arrived, I have hyped myself so much about playing it again that I have been ghosting these forums and have now decided to join the forum.

Sometimes I'll take a break from Fallout 3 and play a different game for a few months or so, but I always end up coming back. With my newest character, now level 18 (but pretty much 19), I have logged approximately 55 happy hours, and I expect many more to come.

I've enjoyed this playthrough so much because it's the first time for a lot of things for me: blowing up Megaton; finding Firelance; recruiting Clover & Jericho; and most notably, being somewhat of an 'evil' character -- but I guess that is in the eye of the beholder, I wouldn't say he's that bad. Needless to say, the game feels very fresh.

Indeed, i am currently on my 6th playthrough and i still enjoy it as much as the first time.

Im only on my 2nd play through. Had it on the ps3 and xbox but thinking of getting it for my PC before NV comes out. I want to try the mods and be a somewhat evil character. Not tried that yet so that should be fun, also thinking about getting the first two. Theres just so much to do in it, been playing for 70+ hours and only maybe a 3rd of the way through.

The OP was spot on the mark. I really, really love this game, especially the insane combat.

You know it is a excellent game when you can still recall some epic fights that happened 1 or 2 years ago with almost perfect clarity.

Reavers, Overlords, Albino Scorps, the sunset going down, the rubble around you, a glorious weapon in your hand. Ahh, the memories.

Long time OB fan and modder I was reluctant to jump into FO3 for some reason. Bought GOTY off Steam a few weeks ago and 1st impression was 'I hate this'. Low level characters have a very hard time surviving and I had the quad-core bug which was killing me. Applied the INI fix and game has been stable ever since. And after getting over the learning curve on what to use/keep, how to lockpick, when to run, etc. I've gotten into this game pretty heavy. Still grumble about a few things: lock picking still difficult with skill of 100 (broken locks everywhere), screwed up a few quests by not talking to the right NPCs 1st or rushing things, confused/frustrated in a few areas. But @ level 20 my character is pretty solid and its still a joy to see something new on the horizon (literally) and ultimately I have to tip my hat to Bethesda. They really did a good job with this.

The modding community for Fallout 3 is absolutely fantastic just as the Oblivion Mod commuinty is. There are some wonderful mods that add a lot of very cool material to the game and make it like new all over again. I've had a ton of fun just trying them out. I tend to stay away from stuff that makes me overpowered as it takes the fun out of the game but there are so many good mods that add a ton of great features to the game. Everything from graphic improvements to new weapons to housing, new objects, new areas opened, new characters, quests, ect, ect, ect. Way too much to mention it all here. I applaude the modding community for the great, amazing work they do. There are certain mods I now feel like I can't do without. It's the only reason I prefer the PC version over the console versions on this game. I play most games on my consoles due to how trouble free they are. But the mods are too good to pass up.

You play other computer games. You exist in Bethesda games. It's a way of life, pure escapism.

I haven't played this game in ages also and i just pick up again yesterday i must say i love it , since i forgot almost everything of the game is like a new experience all over again.

Fallout 3 has a compelling storyline, and so many varied quests. And all sorts of extracurricular activities, from making mole rat wonder meat to trading a hyperactive nine-year-old Nuka Cola for various odd things.

I just wish it had a better selection of endings, though.
