this IS the drop I was looking for...

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2016 10:21 pm

As a console player, I do a lot of Legendary farming between quests. While it can get tedious, it's also a way to kill some time.

I've been farming for a 2-Shot 10mm for a very, very long time. Yeah, I know that there are weapons that are much more powerful, but I just like the 10. FINALLY dropped for me last night. I was so happy. My wife was so confused.

Any drops that you've been really excited to get, or that you had been actively trying to acquire?

It took me ages to find a Wounding Flamer for my pyromaniac/explosives character. When I finally got hold of one I had to ramp up the difficulty because it's so powerful. Still haven't managed to find a decent legendary Gatling Laser, though.

I farm for legendaries often for both armor and weapons. Sometimes it's a moment of opportunity other times I study areas to determine if they're a prime area for legendaries to spawn in hard mode. I farmed for over four hours for an explosive assault rifle two days ago. Ended up getting a two shot .44 (also on my list) and the rest was crap armor. I finally gave up after my mind gave out.

Still waiting on a decent Shishkebab to drop for my Wasteland Knight. I think I've found more legendary Fat Men than Shishkebabs.

Also did any of you farmers notice this: I get a LOT of left arm armor, but RARELY right arm, and I never even once got a helmet.

I played for 550 hours and... I am still looking for decent minigun.

By decent.. I mean a Minigun better than normal minigun and works against all enemies.

Mighty, Plasma, Penetrating, Explosive... anything will do...

but all I have is 4 Mutant slayer, 1 hunter, and... 1 irradiated which actually does 0 damage against ghouls.....

I have 110000 5mm rounds and I am still looking for a damn minigun..

Anyway there were few weapons I was very happy to find.

1. Penetrating Deathclaw Gauntlet (because it has similar usage to previous titles)

2. Explosive Pipe automatic rifle (Extremely fun feeling, powerful & use)

3. Two shot Gauss Rifle (Semi Shotgun & Sniper Rifle with superior damage)

4. Relentless Shishekebab (Unlimited VATs attack with sword)

My other best drops were a 2-shot combat rifle and a 2-shot sniper. This was the last piece of the puzzle. Sorry Raiders... :)

And as for armor, I finally picked up an acrobat piece, which is awesome too. It's the only time in [way too many hours] that I've even seen anything with that prefix.

Gwinnett restaurant usually spawns at least one legendary super mutant and mirelurk. Wilson atomotoys hq has a decent legendary spawn rate. Poseidon reservoir as well. I try to find internal cells that aren't too long but have high enemy counts, that way if I do find the legendary I want, and if I want reroll it, it doesn't take too long to get back to it.

For low level weapons, best place to farm is Cambridge Police station.. since that place has almost 100% chance for legendary BoS initiate to spawn you can steal or assassinate. You can probably repeat this every 72 hours or so when the place resets.

For high level weapons, I believe best place is Glowing Sea.. because everytime I have my glowing sea tour(from blood clinic to all glowing sea area to somerville), I end up getting 5-10 legendary enemies easily.

Anyway, best weapons I ever picked up are all dropped by GHOULS.

...so I do visit all ghoul infested areas regularly.

Also Andrew Station underground tunnel has a high level raider whom almost always spawn to become legendary enemy.

Helmets NEVER drop for me. This was problematic, as I missed out on a certain "unique" item in my first play through, and I tried desperately to duplicate it through farming. Never worked.

Yea. I'm looking for Chameleon Heavy Raider Armor because it will be conceptually contradicting.

Secondly, an Unending Double-Barrel Shotgun. Found once. Had to reload due to past bug.

The explosive assault rifle my first character had did, in fact, drop off a charred feral near the castle. I actually found in my game the best legendaries I got dropped off mongrels and mole rats. Found an explosive minigun on a mole rat brood mother in the glowing sea and an explosive combat rifle on a mongrel near Malden. Have found tons of other weapons but those two stuck out considering both enemy types were easy kills with any weapon.

Yeah, Glowing Sea is a good place to find Legendaries--I hadn't seen a Gauss Rifle yet in my game, then I went to GS. Picked up two legendary Gauss Rifles in one trip (a Fiery and a Two Shot).

Over the weekend I found a Wounding Combat Shotgun--I've been using Justice as my shotgun for a long time, but this has now replaced it. The bleeding damage is pretty overkill--The enemy healthbars go down so fast after a hit with this guy. I've named it Bloody Mess.

Huh?

I killed everything in Glowing sea all over again at least 20 times...

There are few enemies that don`t respawn but 90% do.

When you farm glowing sea, you must not rely on specific named location but rely on your knowledge where enemies get spawned in Open field.

When I come back from my tour... I usually have 40+ deathclaw meat & 60+ rad scorpion meats...

Legendary Raider Armour seems to the rarest. I have loads of Combat, Leather and Metal of almost every type but a real shortage of Raider.

Not respawn, reroll.

Like, at the NGTY if I get a sniper I want, but with the wrong effect on it, I can load the auto save and the sniper will stay a sniper but the effect will change.

Here is how:

Do a quicksave BEFORE you enter a building. Find legendary enemy, see drop. If you DON'T like the drop, reload the quicksave, and the loot will change (Like: 10mm to shotgun)

Then when you get the ITEM you like (Shotgun) you can reload the autosave the game makes INSIDE the building to reroll the effect on it. It will now ALWAYS be a shotgun, but will change from wounding to two-shot to instigating to Ghoul-slayer etc... just reload until it has the effect you like.

Oh that`s very useful to know. Thank you.

I can definitely use this in some place like Hubris Comics and others!

Huh. I don't find it fun meta-gaming like that, personally. I find that I see enough drops just playing normally. I store or sell most of them, but now and then I find a good replacement for a weapon in my load-out. It's a little more exciting to find a good one if you haven't been save-scumming to get it.

National Guard Training Yard. One room, 4 ghouls, one of which is usually Legendary. It's the fastest farm.
