This is the single glitchiest game I have ever owned.

It also helps to have the option of using console commands to rectify many bugs and glitches.

That's true, but I found that I also added glitches by using console commands especially no clipping when trying to get around invisible walls. :obliviongate:

Great response, really, you have really opened my mind with your brilliant usage of deductive reasoning and problem solving logic :spotted owl:

I agree with him. NV has had some spectacular glitches, but really, the one where it corrupts every save file during the "Come Fly With Me" mission was the only one you need to look at. Absolutely inexcusable that in a game of this type a fairly common bug reduces your save games to snot.

That was a problem not to mention Vault 3 and Vault 34 where you could get save corruption issues. Did Beth Softworks even test this game or did they assign the pet chimpanzee to do it.

Yeah, I'm playing on PC and I think I have to let go on this game at least until the release a new patch. Since the new 1.3 "patch" the game has become unplayable.
Looks like it's like that for a lot of other folks as well.

I don't blame you OP.
This is probrably the most glichiest game I've ever owned, WITH THE PATCHES. It gets hard to enjoy the game when your freezing and lagging constantly. The anoying thing is I take care of my games( No tampered disks) and yet NV just glitches constantly.

Maybe the gamebryo engine is what the problem is. It is pretty old, or so I've been told...

I feel sad that so many people have game breaking issues while I have no issues at all :(

Its easily the most glitchy, bugged out game ive ever played. I had no problems with oblivion and very few with fallout 3. I can only comment on the PS3 version and it was a joke. I will never buy another obsidian game again

I don't think Bethesda Softworks realized how much more complex NV is compared to the simple quests in Oblivion and Fallout 3. ....

Though published by Bethesda the game was developed by another company: Obsidian.

My guess is Bethesda would have developed it differently. Since Bethesda's specialty is huge complex open ended games. And Obsidian does not have that experience.

So the above comment might be valid, if you replace Bethesda Softworks with Obsidian Entertainment.

Gamebryo is partially to blame but I would put more of the blame on Obsidian and Softworks.

Yeah, I have it for PC and PS3, and my friend has it for PS3, neither of us have ever had corrupted saves, even crashes, which were rare before, since the latest patch are completely gone.

I've had +/- 5 crashes total and three where my own fault. It's sad really. This is a great game but so many are unable to play it

The only thing I hate about this game is how they'll take the time to change stats to items but don't actually fix things that have been messed up sense the beginning. NCRCF, Grimy Pre-War Business Suit, Reputation, ect. Just a bunch of little things that just annoy me I'm hoping after all the DLC is released everything will be basically fixed.

I should just try to build a really good gaming PC and play it on that, that way I can get a lot of unofficial patches that fix a lot of stuff and doesn't require waiting on the devs. As for glitches in this game they happen a lot but usually if you save often they are easily avoided.

Fallout 2 before the patch had more bugs than Fallout New Vegas. Just saying...

This is it for me too. The stats weren't at the top of my list of things to be fixed at all. I say this sadly, that I think Fallout New Vegas is a very good game that easily could have been a great game. I enjoy playing on PC thanks to a modder who fixed broken Boone. Boone's EVP problem was ignored by the devs in the last patch after they created it in the first patch. They ignored many people posting about it, not just me, and didn't fix it and since he's my favorite companion, I can't use him on the PS3. It ends up just annoying me all around though and it leaves a very bad impression. I haven't yet given up hope that it will be fixed some day because I have some FNVs on PS3 that are unfinished and I'd like to finish them.

I just have to wonder why on the recent release of Brink, when problems were discovered, the devs were on it with patches within a few days. It leaves me shaking my head.

They did it for Brink to improve sales because it's a 1st time IP unlike New Vegas which is an established IP and the sequel from Fallout 3 which did great even with it's problems. Also the Patches that New Vegas needed would take more time then the patches that Brink required.

The only major glitches i have had are with companions and Veronica's quest. Plus with the new patch that disabled all DLC for us PS3 users.

The freezing is just terrible. The game continues to freeze at the end of this conversation, without fail. Making me unable to complete this quest. Good job Bethesda/Obsidian. And don't even say Bethesda didn't make the game, Fallout 3 had the same [censored] problems. Learn to actually play your games before putting them on the market. This game is impossible to enjoy when every 5 minutes or less there is another glitch.

-------------------------------------

The only part of this topic i agree on is the freezing. My game freezes just like yours, every half-hour to 1 hour or so. Ironically, the majority of the time my game is Frozen is when i'm in combat or in the middle of fast-travelling or doing a quest. Making it even more annoying. Bethesda, Obsidian, PLEASE TEST YOUR GAMES BEFORE YOU MAKE THEM PUBLIC!
Apparently it hasn't been patched/fixed by them yet, so the CAPS were necesary.

Does nobody find these glitches endearing? Some of the stuff is pretty awesome (SPOILER: swim to the bottom of the pool in the Ultra Luxe!) This is the glitchiest game I've ever owned as well, but I've grown to love most glitches! They're cute! :cookie:

Actually, Obsidian addressed quite a few problems day one with a patch. I'm not excusing the bugs but they do care ya know.

Me personally, I have had very little bugs. The stuck in first bug is annoying despite me playing in first person most of the time.

Not worth starting a topic for so I thought I'd post it here: I had Arcade grow some Deathclaw hands on me today, Mr Lopez-style. Freaked me out no end when I turned around and saw he had these creepy long-ass fingers. It made me a little uneasy to have him following me. Brrr.

Unrelatedly,

Actually, Obsidian addressed quite a few problems day one with a patch

the fact there was a day one patch is quite a big indicment of the game's being released before it was actually ready.

Also (and also unrelatedly), I didn't find Alpha Protocol to be particularly glitchy at all. It was rubbish, but not buggy. Kind of the inverse of NV, really.
