Is this true about the Aldmeri? : The Elder Scrolls Series Discussion

I heard that apparently the Aldmeri Dominion wanted to ban Talos worship to tear apart the world, thus ascending all Elves to a plain of higher existence.

Is this true? And if so can I get some more information on this? I tried the wiki's, but they all same information of the Altmer and the Aldmeri Dominion in general, not this topic.
