This is why Skyrim is going to be unreal.

In the Daul Shocker recap of his hour to play this paragraph sums up why this game is going to be awesome.

"I eventually came across a windmill where I achieved my second goal, for in the distance a group of warriors were fighting a giant.
Giddy with excitement I immediately jumped into the fray and threw everything I had at the behemoth. I have to admit that even though I was a very low level, even with the NPC fighters helping me it took a lot to bring this towering warrior down. But seeing him topple to the ground was definitely worth it. The fighters thanked me and offered me a side-quest to join their ranks but my time was limited, so to the sword they went."

Seeing people fighting in the distance and heroically coming to their aid or sinisterly watching them parish is so real and something that previous TES games lacked. The extra being allowed to join these peoples group after a simple chance encounter is amazing...just as putting them to death after saving them is. Post if you agree that this new aspect of the game is one of the best new parts of the game or other new parts of the game you are excited for.

The bit where they invite the PC along after saving them does sound fantastic. Shame he was limited on time and didn't go along with them.

I disagree.
It's good but not one of the best things about Skyrim.

Edit: took out quote - unnecessary

I agree, the chance encounters are one of the great improvements on the game and I hope that this wasn't just a mere demo-experience.

looks like a scripted event, this is the 3rd person I've seen mention a group of people fighting a giant, and then either saying why didnt you help or thanks for the help and then saying why don't you join us :P

That is disapointing then.
