Having seen them in game, I'd say the mammoths are pretty mammoth. :)

There definitely 16 feet tall from head to toe if the giant is 12ft, so I don't see the problem. lol..

If they are wild mammoths, it's hunting. If they are tamed mammoths belonging the intelligent and organized giants, it's poaching.

Good point.

I guess I'll be Mammoth poaching.

I think you meant to title this thread "Those giants look enormous"

Agreed. They are standing next to a giant. A [censored] giant.

If they made the mammoths much larger, they would probably be harder to take down than the dragons. :gun:

Here's an idea. The mammoths in Skyrim aren't real mammoths. Hell, they even have four tusks...not to mention the giants that live with them in fantasy land. I for one plan to enjoy hunting for make-believe elephant/mammoth meat

It's to give you an idea about how big they are. The mammoths in Skyrim are even bigger than the one in that chart.

I imagined the mammoth like things from the lotr's those things where massive.

I never imagined Beth doing anything like LOTR's oliphaunts, that would be absurd.

Still though, I get it. I too fantasize of one day fighting a 100 ft creature who's hooves would turn even a 12ft giant into bloodberry jam. Oh well. Still very nice. Go devs!

Real mammoths were at least 16 feet tall. The larger ones were taller. The one mammoth picture we have shows the giant (which is confirmed to be 12 feet tall) walking beside a mammoth which is slightly taller than it. When I heard of mammoths in Skyrim I giggled like a schoolgirl, but imagined big ones...these ones are only around 13-14 feet from the one picture we have of them.

Thats what I said about that frost troll until I saw the trailer on my tv and realized that the player only reached to about the hip. The point is they will look big whenplaying the game, especially in first person. In any case you coiuld probably easily resize them with the creation kit or wait for a mod in a worst case scenario.

I'll say thank you to you for these. I wasn't being lude earlier, I was expecting you to work your magic right away. Do you think we will be able to ride these (even just during a quest)? I think they would be a bit too big though to climb upon.
It would be great though, and I think putting them next to that giant just makes them look really small. It turned out to be a great way to measure them though.

Which species? Woolly mammoths were about the same size as modern elephants, but more heavily built with a different shaped head. http://www.principia.edu/users/els/departments/mammoth/mammothfacts.htm

Mammoths weren't 16 feet tall.

Even Columbian mammoths [no fur] were only 13/14 feet high at the shoulder.

It isn't like they decided to use the dwarf mammoths from Wrangel Island or something.

That picture wasn't exactly to scale, didn't take into account POV, actual player height, or that the giant and mammoths were in stride...or possible changes in elevation.

I expect the mammoths to be about 15 feet tall.

Is there a definitive that the giants are 12 feet tall or more? The giant next to the grasses looks closer to a regular sized person than 12 feet tall.

About the same size actually. Your picture is good but it doesn't take in depth perception. That giant is further back than the mammoth, it would appear a bti bigger if it was closer to it.

Damn you are losing it. I would at least thought you would have made a comparison scale and worked out how tall the mammoth is in relation to the giant by now. - then posted the picture. :D:

Just look at this picture
http://i.imgur.com/Sm13o.jpg

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere near them with my tiny little iron arrows if I buy Skyrim. You can just imagine how many people will try to pick a fight once seeing them and practically have their pants gone as they run to escape those pissed mammoths

Looks like Bethesda nailed scaling.

World building/scaling has always been their forte though. I wouldn't expect less.
