Those mammoths look small.

Its just perspective of the screen. The Giant looks small also, but we already know they are like 9ft tall.

With a creature of that size (18ft by Luke's scale), how are we supposed to realistically kill one.

Proportionally, wouldn't they have an impressively think hide? For an arrow to hit anything vital, you'd have to nail an eye or something. The only other thing I can think of is hacking away at a leg in melee...

How are we supposed to kill a dragon? Run at it with a sword/bow/magic :D Its TES, not real life.

Fact: Both Mammoths and Giants are big.

Fact: Both Mammoths and Giants are big in Skyrim.

And yeah, the scale didn't take into account certain factors, but I'd say the mammoths are still around 15-16 feet tall.

Are we really this bored...?

Anyway, thank the TC for giving us yet again something pointless to discuss to take our minds off of waiting. Alas lads (we have lasses too...?), tomorrow is the big day. A whole 5 minutes of Todd Howard's voice, plus some Skyrim stuff (but that's not as important right?).

In real life, the largest discovered mammoths only reached 16ft tall. The ones in Skyrim look to be around that size.
im not sure how large you expected them to be, but if you don't believe me, look it up ;)

You know what would be useful when fighting a mammoth? A spear. But instead we'll have to run at it with a puny little sword.

Real mammoths were at least 16 feet tall. The larger ones were taller. The one mammoth picture we have shows the giant (which is confirmed to be 12 feet tall) walking beside a mammoth which is slightly taller than it. When I heard of mammoths in Skyrim I giggled like a schoolgirl, but imagined big ones...these ones are only around 13-14 feet from the one picture we have of them.

These are not "real" mammoths. You might be correct (Im not gonna check the veracity) but it is TES after all is said and done. Perhaps taller mammoths just were a bit too large?

Those are not real mammoths, neither were real wooly mammoths 16 feet tall. Well, just to repeat what was already said and say myself that I don't care about realism, but about cohesion.

Fallout 3 had different sizes of certain creatures, so maybe there are larger mammoths. The mammoths we've seen are still HUGE, though. I don't understand the complaint. Some people nitpick about the most ridiculous things.

Awesome chart luke. Man I really can't wait to see them up close. I can't wait to start poaching them! ^_^
I wonder if we can take there tusks for profit, or as a trophy.

While i believe mammoths to be humongous, there is one clear motive behind the complaining.
It's called Point of View.
On that pic the POV is not at the PC's usual height. Either the PC is standing on someting or mounted on a horse or other creature.
If it were, then those giants and mammoths would be seen more from underneath and appear way bigger.

You're all wrong!

That is a typical midget giant (only 5'3) walking her whooly mammoth pony.

This.

The thing is POV apperas to be set somewhere at 8ft level.
Is the PC a giant too?

Screenshots are sometimes captured with a free-moving camera view...

EDIT: There's also the possibility that the player character is standing at an angle (hill, perhaps?).
