They are making me paranoid. I swear the pilots purposely swerve in my direction before they are going to crash. I've learned to duck into structures before they hit. One was relatively far away (far enough that I would not have been able to shoot at whatever they were attacking), it caught on fire and slowly started death spiraling, in my direction! It literally landed just a few feet from where I stood and if I had not moved towards a building it would have landed where I was moments before.

Are these crazy pilots aiming for the sole survivor or am I just being paranoid?

They are hoping that the SS will prove to be as superhuman as rumors suggest, and will catch them before they crash, thus, sparing them a fiery death.

Personally, I think that after a certain point in the main questline, Vertibirds become VERY similar to Cliffracers from Morrowind....... Annoying, but, easy to kill.
