To those who say Bethesda games are always bugged....

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:00 pm

Something to think about.

You say all their games are buggy, from TES to FO3 and beyond. You know their games are likely to have bugs, before you buy them. Then you buy them, and get upset that they have bugs.

I know the flames will cometh, but if you really think about it this isn't very logical.

No it's not logical. But purchasing decisions are rarely made with reason ruling the roost. Hence hyperbolic advertising and the willingness of consumers to believe just about anything they are told -- especially if its told in a sixy way!

I agree. I knew it would be buggy. Not because it's bethesda but because the game is HUUUUGE. Any company would have a game this bug full of bugs with this release date as a target from when they started. Yes they could've pushed it back, but I'd rather be playing it now and not still waiting lol. but that's just me...

I'm still loving this game on my framerate crappy PS3 more than any other PS3 game I've owned. Soooo yea, I think it's just the internet so 99% of ppl HAVE to complain. It's science

I really don't get their logic either, With such a vastly huge game it is impossible to catch every little bug.

Very true. Some of us expected bugs and aren't crying. After all, a TES game with bugs is still a great game.

That is true I hadn't seen it from that angle, and skyrim was marketed very well!

skyrim's bugs are worse than previous beth games, and this patch is the worst they've ever released. it's a shame, as the heart of the game is still gold. perhaps beth should have delayed the game release for another few months.

Bugs and glitches usually add to a game for me, glitches especially.

Any gamer who gets upset at a game released with bugs is simply a fool.

Coming from a background in professional QA, I can say that nearly all games have bugs, and all games have design flaws/oversights. There is no perfect game, and the bigger the game (or software) the more bugs and flaws it'll have. Humans create software that runs on top of human-designed hardware that uses human-coded drivers and operating systems.

But I think I may be in the minority when I find a lot of bugs funny to the point of laughing out loud. Like one bug where this NPC can duplicate himself over and over again over a period of time, causing like 7 of the same NPC to be standing around...hilarious! It's like Skyrim is really a product of the Matrix!

OP is passing judgement and has been on the forums a week...as a long term customer and contributor, I'd suggest that long term customers tend to know what to expect, and to be the best judges of how something is performing.

The sad part is, marketers know us better than we know ourselves. I've had several times where I was determined not to buy a game and then did day one, cuz I just wanted it to be awesome and I have no self discipline. In other words, I'm an ideal consumer. Which kinda svcks.

Really?
Are you sure about that?
Double check.
Now triple check.

skyrim is bigger in map size and gameplay than previous beth games, and this game is the biggest they've ever released. If they delayed it I would shoot myself out of suspense.

fixed =)

So because I've been on the furom for a week means I haven't been a bethesda customer for 10 years? Forum registration date doesn't mean anyyythinnnng, I see this on every forum lol. There's no way for you to know how long someone's been playing these games.

Excuse me, if anyone is passing judgment here it's you by assuming I'm not a long term customer because I'm new to the forum.

Morrowind had an alchemy bug that, if you pressed space to exit the screen, it crashed every single time. It was fixed in 2nd or 3rd patch.

Skyrim is the least buggy game Bethesda have ever released. I've been playing 100+ hours, the most severe issue I've encountered was a water texture glitch that I saw once. Once. Sure, lots of people have variety of issues, but compared to Oblivion and Morrowind (not even going to bother with Daggerfall), this is the least buggy release they've ever made.

At least, for the PC, I can't speak for console versions, specifically PS3. This is the first time they've made a simultaneous release with PS3.

The people who think this game is so horribly bugged never played Star Wars Galaxies, especially anytime before the "combat upgrade", and ESPECIALLY not during launch.

That game was the single most bugged out, cluster [censored] of a game I've ever played.

THOSE forums weren't anywhere near this bad with the complaints.

11/11/11 was more important than nonsensical concepts like quality control.

Agreed. I first made this account when looking at Oblivion mods, but only started posting on it a lot when Skyrim was announced. However, I have been playing ES games since Morrowind, and Bethesda games in general since I was 5.

As for the OP, I agree. All games have bugs. We know they will going into it.

While i do agree games and patches have bugs. A little longer testing phase would of been better. I nkow the 11.11.11 was a cool release date but

If Bethsda kept players informed of upcoming patches info, then im sure ppl wouldnt mind waiting a bit longer for testing phases, we are paying customers not game testers.

The people who say "All Bethesda open world games are buggy, it should be expected" are an entirely different group of people than the "I can't believe how buggy this game/patch is" group.

Your argument isn't very logical because you lump two completely different groups of people into one group of people that simply doesn't exist... then you ask why this fabricated group thinks the way it does?

*brain bleeding*

Edit: I certainly know that games like this have historically had bugs, but that doesn't mean I have to simply accept it. Bethesda never once said, prior to release, "This game will include a laundry list of bugs at release". I give them, as a company who is (theoretically) focused on pleasing consumers, the benefit of the doubt that they will release as bug free a game as possible.

I was wrong to give them that, because they just continued in their old awful habits. If anything, they're getting worse.

I won't be buying any more Bethesda games, as sad as that makes me to say.

Personally, I bought the game knowing there would be bugs and I have no problem with that. I do have issues with small updates being pushed out that seem to break more than they fix and do nothing much more than generate alot of bad PR for a game series that I have come to love over the years.
