To those who think that the Stormcloaks are all racists...

Laila Law-Giver is a Stormcloak O_o , what makes you think otherwise? All it takes to be a Stormcloak is:

A: Support Ulfric's claim, which she does.

B: Consider Ulfric's cause right.

And she does both. She even says so.

I think people get confused when she says she's a bit uneasy about the war. Its because she doesn't like bloodshed in general, not because she doesn't believe in Ulfric's cause.

Usually I don't care about the whole grey quarter thing but I happen to notice your point of view of it. Allowing them to have their own small community isn't a pro for Windhelm at all. They're segregated from the rest of Windhelm to live in a slum, while in other cities, everyone lives together equally (if slightly less equal is it at least not in the same conditions of Windhelm having a slum) with no separate communities or lesser conditions than the other. Allowing the Dunmer to have a "small community" is no bright side to having to live in the slum of the city. Perhaps as Niranye says, the Dunmer are too na?ve (in my opinion lies as very little a reason to still allow citizens of a city to continue to dwell in a slum regardless, especially since its only a viewpoint of a specific NPC), but either way, Windhelm shouldn't be having a slum to shove a specific race in to begin with.

She's one of the most fanatical Stormcloaks there is. Shehttp://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Threki_the_Innocent, and even thinks her own son has gone crazy because he expresses a moderate dislike of the man. Her other son calls the 'Imperial sympathiser' a 'traitor,' and her housecarl says Ulfric's 'a bloody hero.' Yet she has two elven court officials.

They're not forbidden from owning property elsewhere; Belyn Hlaalu does just that. It may be the worst part of the city, and the Dunmer its poorest residents, so the two go hand-in-hand, but that's more due to universal laws of economics than deliberate policy.

The Thalmor and the current Aldmeri Dominion are one and the same. It was the Thalmor who gained power during the Oblivion Crisis, even gaining enough to oust opposition speakers and make them "mysteriously disappear". It was the Thalmor who ousted Summerset's Royalty, and set themselves up as the ruling regime of the Summerset Isles. It was the Thalmor who organized the coup in Valenwood, and it was the Thalmor who declared the refounding of the Aldmeri Dominion.

The Thalmor are the totalitarian sole government of the Aldmeri Dominion, and anyone who thinks otherwise is misinformed.

Exactly. They are the government, not the people. Like any totalitarian government they rule with an iron fist. However the people ruled like this are still 'Altmer', not 'Thalmor' and not every Altmer supports the Thalmor, not by a long shot. They are still called the 'Aldmeri Dominion', not the 'Thalmor Dominion'.

I imagine that if Ulfric caught wind of any Altmer living within Windhelm having any kind of Thalmor sympathies he would not be lenient in any way. He would be a fool if he was. The Thalmor are, after all, the people that tortured him and slaughtered so many of his kinsman.

There is a distinction between people and government, but even so those two Altmer are among Windhelm's richest residents. They're freely allowed to live and do as they please, the same as any Nord. I want to know how the 'racist' crowd answer that.

Ahm there weren't any Stormcloaks back then...

Hmm let me count :

Imperials:

Falkreath= The steward is a Mer

Markath=The court Wizard is a Mer

Winterhold = Mer

Stormcloacks :

Riften= Courtmage and Steward.

Winterhold = Mer

And Anuriel got the Job because of Maven ...

Ahm no ... the jarl thinks that he has "connections" to the college and Malur says: I don't really know anyone at the College. I guess everyone just assumes I do because I'm a Dunmer."

He is steward because the Jarl ,who hates elves ,thinks that he has connections, just because he is a Dunmer,that's like saying that you know the Mafia because you're Italian.

Harrald: "I've done what I needed to do keep mother happy. It doesn't matter what I really believe."

When it comes to the argonians its Torbjorn being an [censored] and Ulfrics decree that says they must stay in the docks.

Niranye is right when she says "The dark elves are too proud and naive to understand the way things truly are, and so they continue to dwell in that slum". Hlaalu farm and it's Dunmer residents are proof of that.

If anything it's the Argonians that should feel segregated as they're purposely put outside of Windhelms walls in favor of the Dunmer to avoid conflict between the two.

I don't like Ulfric but it's wrong to say that he's racist when actually it's more of a natural mistrust of non-Nords during a civil war that he started....if I were him then I wouldn't trust anyone other then Galmar as that guy breathes loyalty :P

Rolff and Angrenor are the only racist Stormcloaks. The others simply have justifiable distrust for outsiders, which I can say the same for most of the other races. I'll be honest, I did not enjoy throwing honorable people out of their homes, no matter their stance in the war. Idgrod, Balgruuf, Alsfur, the list goes on. But this is war, and in war there are sacrifices. I think the most common misconception is who is at war here. This is Nords fighting the Thalmor here, not Stormcloaks fighting Imperials. Skyrim neighbors are just standing in the way of what needs to be done.

I mostly see the Stormcloaks as religious fanatics. Nothing more.

Sory but what ? Half of Skyrim does not want the Imperials to leave and does not want Ulfric as king,it's a civil war it's Nords fighting Nords .

And yes it is war and I personally think that the Empire is right.Skyrim is part of the Empire and Ulfric is or at least was a legionary and if he rebels then he is a traitor.

Killing Skyrims High King may be justified by tradition ,but breaking his oath to the Emperor isn't .

To forbid Talos worship is bad but,there were no Thalmor inquisitors in Skyrim,they were only doing that after Ulfric started his little "crusade".

The Nords could have just worshipped Talos in secret,the Empire doesn't want to ban Talos worship forever ,when the second great war starts Talos worship will be established again.

And if Ulfric only wanted an independent Skyrim he could have just asked Torygg,but no he wanted to be King...

You know that the SC supporters are going to counter everything you said with their own headcannon right? Here's a Flameshield, you never say anything bad about Ulfric, ever, that's the laws of this forum, you should know by now that Ulfric is the tenth divine and what ever quote you find that speaks bad of him is false and can't be trusted.

However what ever quote speaks good of him, is true and should be embellished.

There were, they just didn't call themselves that. Dengeir's the same man as a Stormcloak as he was before, with the same values and ideals, and he had an elven steward. You're really trying to push this one, but you can't change the truth: a Stormcloak-sympathising jarl had an elf as a steward. So do others...

This is as harsh as you can ever make that list, and still the Stormcloaks have but one fewer elf in a high position of government than the Imperials. That is conclusive proof that they are not racist.

Did you just make that up?

The other son, Saerlund, is the one she thinks is ill because he doesn't love Ulfric. Harrald is the one that calls Saerlund a traitor.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Stormcloak, and I dislike Ulfric. I dislike people stretching the truth even more, though: there are things he is, and there are things he's not.

I think its unfair to say that anything a Stormcloak supporter says is good about Ulfric or anything that counters an accusation against him is somehow automatically wrong.

First of all, he killed Torygg because as Balgruuf put it "He thought it was only only way to make his point", which is: Skyrim is weak in its current position, and its the Empire that made it so. Besides, Torygg, while he apparently respected Ulfric greatly, he was too attached to the Empire to declare independance.

And the Thalmor, according to the Concordat, have free roam in the Empire to scour Talos worshippers, so Stormcloaks or no, they had presence to some degree in Skyrim. Although, of course, the Stormcloak rebellion have brought a greater presence of Thalmor to Skyrim.

In the end, Stormcloak win or Imperial win, it doesn't make much difference. Both are wins for the Thalmor.

Imperial win: Thalmor have access to all of Skyrim, to scour and destroy Skyrim's manpower as they please.

Stormcloak win: Empire is weaker with Skyrim independant.

Dont get involved: Best Thalmor solution, both Skyrim and Imperials waste manpower fighting each other for years.

So in the end, it doesn't matter. Hope you feel fufilled with your endless back and forth bickering.

The Elven steward of Laila? No he/she didn't.

Fair shout, I wasn't aware of that. But l see in that letter that it was the jarl's choice to have her as steward, not Maven's.

A Stormcloak jarl still chose to have an elven steward. The original point still stands.
