Thought about Sotha Sil

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 12:30 pm

I just cant reconcile the fact that Sotha would have gotten his butt kicked by Crazy Lady. So what's your thoughts that Dyvith Fyrr could be Sotha Sil? I mean if I was a living god I would have a secret Identity. And if my power was fading and I was going to become mortal, Id be a powerful mortal. Fyrr is the only one that could fit the bill.

Just curious if that idea struck anyone else at any time.

I'm not too confident that it's even possible that Sotha Sil is Divayth Fyr. There's no lore to support it. that would be like me saying Winston Churchill was Hitler.

He wasn't expecting company he was strapped down in those machines he had defenses but with the mazed band Almalexia just walked around most of them. And she was a god too. Also Alm was a warrior and Sotha was a sage

It is implied that he just didn't care. I find that to be a more poetic reason than "his traps were not good enough" and "she was the better fighter."

Ayem: Not a whisper. Even in death, he mocked me with his silence!

Azura: Weep not for Sotha Sil. He shed his mortality long ago, and I am certain his death was no small relief to him. These gods lived with the burden of a power no mortal was meant to possess.

Albides is right. I'm sure it's been discussed before somewhere here. He just didn't care wether he lived or died anymore, so when Almalexia came to kill him, he just sat there doing nothing.

If anything Fyr is probably the hero of Battlespire.

But he seems a little old for being in a battlemage academy only a few decades ago.

And we must remember that the Mazed Band teleports you to where Sotha Sil is, bypassing all the traps.

Was Sotha Sil missing his legs before Almalexia killed him?

Battlespire occured around the time of TES I: Arena, not too long before Morrowind. The Hero of Battlespire, if I recall correctly, was an Imperial Battlemage in training. An agent of the Empire. Divayth Fyr is a 2000 year old Chimer/Dunmer wizard, who would have no need for such training.

What leads you to that connection?

Must be those artifacts he has in his tower.

But seriously, Fyr is 4000 years old. A bit to old to be an apprentice.

Possibly. However, remember that the Daedric Crescent Blades were forged for the purpose of invading the Battlespire, and there was a lot more than just one of them. Lord Dregas Volar simply holds the last known remaining one.

I stand corrected.

If you talk to Vivec after you do the Tribunal expansion, he makes some comments regarding Sotha Sil's apparent readiness to die. According to Almalexia's comments, he didn't come across as having really put up any fight at all.

I always figured he didn't say anything cuz he removed his vocal cords to put in more wires and things maybe?
And while I honor Azura and acknowledge her greater wisdom I don't trust everything she says. She is way to bias on this point and might just be adding a poetic epitaph rather then saying "Yep he was a happy guy, bit of a shut in never bothered nobody till he got hacked to pieces by crazy lady thanks to you. You know it is your fault right? Giving her that ring and all that." We don't know what he was really like.

And where do we get 4000 for Fyr I hear alot of conflicting ages for him 4000 ? 1000 any solid data? 4000 would make him mythic era right?

I think he or one of the Telvanni councilors actually might state his age at some point, but I don't remember what it was specifically. I wish I could remember why I'm thinking this, but my feeling is there is some remark about him being alive at the end of the first era.

*going to see if I can look it up somewhere.

I believe one of Fyr's "daughters" comments on his age when asked about stealing the treasures within his tower, but I could be incorrect.

You're not incorrect; one of his daughters mentions that is isn't a smart idea to try to steal from a 4000-year-old wizard.

Puts him close to the start of the first Empire.

"You're smart. Get corprus disease. Get killed by corprus monsters. Get killed by Vistha-Kai. A very good plan. Plunder the dungeon of a 4000-year-old wizard. What could be easier?" - Alfe Fyr

Maybee he fooled everyone. Sil is the smart one of the group. If any of them could put something across the craftiest Vivec its him. Alma is easy to fool, SHES BONKERS!

Let me put another idea across. There was real Dyvith Fyrr at one point, Sotha met him at the Psijic Tower. Fyrr dies through age or incident and Sotha seizes the opportunity to take his place for whatever reason. Being Fyrr allows him versitility in his studies. In Clockwork City Sill does his research in dweemer stuff. As Fyrr he does whatever strikes his fancy. He roleplays a Televanni Wizard. The guy has the last Dwemer in his basemant. Cmon....

AND

Heres one that just occured to me. Sil is dead but the Daedra pact is still in force. Fyrr is the one enforcing it. Daedra can tell that Sil still exists and so are still bound to it?

Isnt that idea appealing?

Err, I was reading his usepwiki page, and it commented on him of possibly being the hero of battlespire. It would be neat if he really was the hero, and it also said that you can ask if he was the hero of the battlespire after you get the crescent, but I just tried it, and it doesn't give an option anywhere to ask him.

arrrrrrgggggghhhh....your all taking the word of a Crazy woman (Goddess, whatever) and a Notorious Fibber, instead of thinking it through!

If you were a living god slowly losing your power and just wanted to get out of the rut your eternity has become, wouldnt you bail? I mean how is anyone gonna crack your disguise? Your the oldest Televani Wizard...not like anyone is gonna notice you dont have that mole on your left arm anymore.

No no, Im sure your all correct. Sotha would end it and just sit there while crazy lady tore him apart. He wouldnt have left a Simulcram imbued with his last remaining Heart power and hie off to his Televani Love nest and collection of Rare Deidrec Battle souvenirs.

What was I thinking?

You were thinking some happily-ever-after fairy tale ending was better than the sad farewell of seeing Sotha Sil's dangling corpse, face frozen into an expression of painful release. That was what you were thinking.

Could he have lost his legs and/or replaced them with mechanical ones? I wonder if it goes back to when he was rescued from the fall of his House. It's been a few years since I played "Morrowind" and its expansions.
