I thought the reveal trailer was supposed to be in dragon la

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 11:56 am

I'm talking about this trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGMOMkACtn4

At 0:55 they start singing and I remember a developer stating somewhere that they are singing in dragon language but yeah.. they aren't

It's just English with a distortion effect, they are singing the following

Dovahkiin

Dovahkiin

For? the sake of Skyrim!

For our life, for our home

For Hrothgar's blood

For the Nords and for the Gods,

For the sole single son

Dovahkiin, our king, who'll dawn with fire!

Why did the dev say they were singing dragon language when they clearly aren't?

I don't know what all the rest are, but "for the king, for the king," that's dovahkiin, dovahkiin, I couldn't understand the rest of it though

That translation is wrong because there is nothing to translate.. they are singing in English....

And yeah I agree it does sound more like Dovahkiin, the first two lines that is

Yes that is correct they did state it was in dragon language but that is not the case, it's clearly English, just with a distortion effect that makes it hard to understand what they are saying unless you concentrate on it

The translation is wrong because as I said, there is nothing to translate.. it's in English

I'm pretty sure it's
dovahkiin dovahkiin naal ok zin los vahrin wah den vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal ahrk fin norok paal graan fod nust hon zindro zan dovahkiin fah hin kogaan mu draal.
That's the first half of the language we've been shown. Sounds like it to me, anyway. It's not very clear, though. So, maybe not.

Listen to the video from 0:55 and look at the first post in this thread and what I think it says and tell me that it doesn't sound like that.

Precisely.

It is the dragon language.

No.. it's not.. go listen to it

It's not like this is a coincidence of it saying random english words or something, this is it clearly being in English and having words/names of the Elder Scroll's franchise in it (Nords, Skyrim, Dovahkiin, Hrothgar)

It's in English. Simple as that.

It's a cold hard fact, go listen to it and tell me that it doesn't say what I said in the first post. That is what it says.

It's like saying "because it reminds me a bit of English, I can say it's spoken in English only with some effects to blur their words."

No, they are actually singing in another language, it may sound a bit like English, but it's not.

It sounds precisely like English to me with a distortion effect on top of it and as I said, has specific names made for the elder scrolls franchise in it which is just too big of a coincidence. Nords, Skyrim, Dovahkiin, Hrothgar.. you really think it's just a coincidence that these four elder scrolls phrases are heard in it? Random english words I would just say yeah, it's a coincidence but not four specific phrases coined for the elder scrolls.. far too big of a coincidence.

They made you think it is so you won't figure out it's in another language! Everyone wrote what they heard but didn't think it was in another language!

Do you think Bethesda is that [censored]? They were playing with us all along =_= But the translation is correct, and you are wrong, when they say "sole single son" you can hear a 'z' that comes from "hon zindro zan"...

And also mate... Have you ever listened to a song or watched a movie and there was a part that you didn't quite hear right or understand what the character talks about but then when you read the subtitles or the lyrics it's all clear and you can understand it? So ja that's the thing, you read the lyrics and then it became clear because your mind told you it's in English and sounds like those lyrics.. it does that.. So unless you kidnap Todd Howard and interrogate him.. or just get an answer from another worker in Bethesda that works on Skyrim (would be better :P) I don't think it's in English...

It sounds like English and almost or somewhar similar to what the OP wrote.

But it was discovered before that they're actually singing in the dragon-language, something very different.

Still, the fact remains to me that it sounds like English. And everytime I hear the trailer, despite my knowledge of it supposedly being the dragon-language, I always think it sounds like English.

Dovakhiin is already dragon language, so of course they would say that, if it was english, they would say dragonborn.

I support the OP, what he wrote is what I heard back in the Trailer, you can make out Skyrim, Kings, For the, etc etc all following the ups and downs of the traditional Elderscrolls theme.

I'm not your mate, buddy

Anyhow for some reason you guys seem dead set on ignoring the fact that it clearly sounds like English and has four specific Skyrim phrases in it (Which as I have said, is far too big of a coincidence..) and believe that it's still in dragon language for some reason.

But either way it really doesn't matter, just thought I'd point out what I thought was very obvious once you are told what they are saying.

Troll thread is trolly. We all thought thats what it said. Todd said that was the point, to make it sound english but it isn't. We were all fooled. Its in the dragon language. Why would we have to translate it if the language is fake?
