I had heard, though this may have been bad info, that if you went up the left side of the smithing tree, you couldn't unlock others on the right side. Tonight I was able to complete the smithing tree and am now able to craft all armor. If the info I received was false, please excuse this thread.

Well, it's false. For me you can do unlock them both simultaneously. I got smithing 100 now, and during my route to get there I was able to craft from both trees.

No thats not the issue. The issue is that going up one side means you can not loop around from the top back down again, you have to go up both sides independently.

The way you describe it it is fake, though they might have been saying that you cannot unlock all the armor in the game (not just crafting armor) on a single character.

I never understood why anyone woulod think it's possible either. Daedric material is heavy armor only. It requires less smithing than dragon smithing. Why would you be able to loop around the master level perk into a lesser perk? You can't do that with enchanting either or any other skill. So why would anyone think it's possible with smithing?
