No, that game's called Daggerfall. You can walk for miles (sometimes even on land) and see nothing. Or you might stumble upon a town no player has ever visited (not that you could tell if you did). Not sure what happens when you hit the end of the map, but ironically that's the TES game where the mountains are a pained backdrop.

I ran into the invisible border once in Skyrim. The part that bugged me was it was on a patch and I could see stuff down the path I wanted to visit. Time for some ini hacking methinks.

Yeah, that would be annoying--if you ever figure out the ini. be sure and post it, p-l-e-a-s-e! :cookie:

wow, this has got to be the single worst thing to complain about. The sheer size of the game world and you [censored] about a couple of deserted islands? GTFO.

What, were you planning on swimming to Akavir?

I think you mean Atmora.

You certainly have a lot of free time. May I suggest something more constructive than what you're doing now?

I thought the issue was with invisible walls within the game area. In new Vegas here were areas that looked like you could access but you jeered blocked by invisible walls that were funeling you down certain paths. I don't think Todd's quotes reffered to the game borders but rather the area within the game borders.

This is how I read it, too. I've only found one invisible wall so far that forbid me from doing something that was blatantly and obviously possible to do. But for the most part the freedom to go anywhere on the landscape is very nice. I can't even imagine how much time I've spent stubbornly scaling mountains to get where I need to go, instead of looking for a way around. :)

This reminds me on when i tried flying to Japan in F/A-18 Interceptor (1988, on Commodore Amiga). All the air bases were located in the San Francisco area.
But i learned a lot about how games work since then

But I thought the world go on for miles and miles and never end...oh wait that's freaking stupid

Not in Star Trek. Ah, if only we had that kind of technology.

If you are shocked by Todd Howard's lies, I have a mountain to sell you in Kansas.

LOL. Todd Howard has said lots of things about what Skyrim was going to be, that turned out to no be true.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they had some secret stuff outside the game border that only PC users can access with the console code. I'd forgive them for the UI.

OP is taking what Todd said out of context completely.

When Todd said "you can go everywhere", he was talking about mountains and how they were ALL climeable, and how all mountains were real, and not just backdrops, and he was right. They are. He also NEVER said there wouldn't be barriers.

This thread is a joke.

I guess I don't understand...he would have to make Skyrim larger than it really is and take forever expanding and expanding. Of course there will be a border, that's the end of Skyrim. It wouldn't be called Skyrim if you could walk into other cities. Maybe I'm misunderstanding because I don't get what the big deal is?
