Thoughts about the Khajiit Photo

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 12:43 am

Many people have talked and wondered if the Khajiit Race will have its legs like they looked in Morrowind.
And im NOT sure about this thing, but it looks like the Khajiit on this Photo have bent legs. Well you decide what you believe, and remember im not sure, just a thing i thought about.

If you look at the Khajiit in this link.

Well, what do you think?

Thanks for posting, I haven't seen this before. The legs don't look bent to me though. Honestly, i'd rather them not be, I can't stand the way they look in Morrowind.

He could just be hunkered down too. There's really no way to tell if beastman legs are back from that picture.

Why I thought about this is because I know that Bethesda would add more personalities to the races, one of the thing is the hair on his upper-body.

I think I couldn't see enough of the legs to make any sort of informed guess on which way they bend when it was first posted a while back, and still can't see them any better now.

Hmm I can't see his legs being bent =\. . But it looks like he's just normally standing. Who knows, all the Races must be improved :)

I think he has his knees bent for some sort of archery stance/combat stance.

The legs will probably be somewhere between the Morrowind ones and the Oblivion ones.
I hope so, the Morrowind ones were Ridiculous with a capital R.

And I also heard that every Race will have a unique set of armour. So, maybe the legs are back.

Seriously man, not trying to start some discussion or anything. But people in fact are not obligated to know that everyone has discussed this stuff before. Not everyone is as forum active as you are, and while yes, they could use the search button a bit more... well, there's no need to use that much sarcasm on almost every post. I've just seen like, 3 posts of you doing that. But hey, whatever. It's the internet after all eheh

Regarding the topic, while I would like to see it, I am not sure if we are going to.... It could very well be just the angle :) I agree with the poster above that says it is an archery stance, it looks like it to me too!

that would be the awesomest if that were to happen, in addition to the base regular armor typical of the game.

Unless you heard this from The Todd or his right-hand-man Pete, "I heard that" should be taken with a big grain of salt. I've "heard" a lot of things- mounted combat on your pet mammoth, for instance. Good reason to not get too attached to any idea until you can actually see it in the game for yourself.

I would be very surprised if the legs in Skyrim are similar to those in Morrowind. Although it would be cool.

Legs are not BENT, FYI.

They are either plantigrade - walking of full foot (Human) or digitigrade - walking on tiptoes (Cats, for instance). The backwards knees or whatever you call them are actually heels.

I would like More catty Khajiits and Human like ones because (for those who've read IC) it's mentioned that the form of khajiit changes based on what moon they're born in.

And they range from the size of common housecats (Alfiq), to about the size of an railed Freight Engine (Senche-Raht "Battlecat").
I really wish they add at least one Senche-raht somewhere, possibly as a "Tiger Vs. Dragon" thing.

In an interview they said the races will be more distinct. Walking like in MW would certainly do that. But I doubt they would do it. I think the reason they gave in OB to make them all walk the same was the time it would take to program all the new walking animations, how cloths would fit, etc.

In this picture I do not think they are going back to the MW way unfortunately. I do love the whiskers though.

I think you just don't stand up straight with the bow in your hand in the game... so it looks like if the legs were bent, but I don't think they really are. If they bring that back from Morrowind, I think they should make it look a little bit better.

The Khajiit in the picture is also holding a bow, which means that the positioning of the legs could just be a result of the stance for holding weapons. This picture really doesn't tell me what Khajiit legs are like either way, which might be intentional, either because they are indeed digitgrade and Bethesda wants to keep this secret so it can be a surprise later, or because they are not digitigrade and since Bethesda knows some people want digitigrade legs, they want to conceal this fact as long as possible, of course, a third possibility is that no particular effort was made to conceal the structure of the legs or feet and that just happened to be the way the picture was taken, since Bethesda wanted to put emphasis on the upper body rather than the lower one.

They are either plantigrade - walking of full foot (Human) or digitigrade - walking on tiptoes (Cats, for instance). The backwards knees or whatever you call them are actually heels.

You are right that the whole "backwards knee" thing is a misconception, although I do seem to recall that Morrowind's Khajiit and Argonians had their actual knees somewhat bent too, but that was a result of the animations for them and I wouldn't say it's an inevitable result of digitigrade feet.

Hopefully they either have normal, boot wearing legs, or the boots are magically transformed into "cat-boots"...
Puss in boots could do it, why can't Khajiit?

Either way, unique animations would be nice.
