Thoughts about the trailer?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 7:52 am

Okay after some more viewing still love it!

New observations and questions begged

1. Memory Den ?

2. Old galleon with "modern" engines attached?

3. A cool "modern" zeppelin

4. Swatters a weapon shop with a nail bat sign

5. Diamond City Surplus - Here I come!

Looks as though I have a reason to post on the forums again.

Yes, the trailer was awesome. I have had no interest in any games lately other than Wasteland 2 and Brutal Doom V20. I've been waiting for Fallout 4. Can't wait for the Collector's Edition announcement.

My thoughts about the trailer? Is that it's just that, a trailer. It didn't hype me up at all to be honest, https://youtu.be/48nFaBC6mDg. Take the Skyrim cinematic trailer, and ESO trailers for example...

The last game trailer I watched which hyped me up (which is bloody rare now days), and actually delivered on that hype was Ori and the Blind Forest.

I loved the trailer! Everything about it was awesome.

Bethesda really has improved on the lighting a lot.

Bethesda isn't going to cater to the minuscule minority who actually care if a ghoul adheres to the lore aspect outlined in Fallout 1. They're going for what is exciting and entertaining, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

One other thing that pinged my eye with the trailer was that a lot of what was presented looked a lot like some sort of steampunk esque space fantasy. The shores of Mars at some point with an alien crab crawling about. A Starwars (or somesuch) esque bazaar. Some sort of steampunk Final Fantasy like elements with a zeppelin and flying crafts, naval ship with jet engines. And so on.

Rather than an actual post apoc wasteland, it felt very weirdly alien.

I like it pretty much, except for the underwhelming music added, but it′s just nitpicking.

It′s vibrant, it has diversity in colors, the animations are great, the vibe is right... what′s not to like?

My expectations werent very high, but honestly if it was a teaser trailer that didnt show anything like the fallout 3 one, i dont think i'd be as disappointed after watching it as I am with this one. Sure they showed a lot, but it gives me a bad feeling in my gut. It seems very, eh, how to put it...

It looks more like an open world Bioshock or comparable game, rather than a true fallout sequel. It looks to me like Bethesda is going more down the route of Skyrim and streamlining for a broader audience. How so? Well it's hard to say, other than i have a really bad feeling about the game and I've been observing Bethesda very closely since 2004 and something just doesn't seem right.

I was on the fence with Bethesda since before skyrim, and this trailer didnt give me a whole lot of hope that bethesda was starting to step back in the right direction with Fallout. Again, it's hard to place what it is exactly that I'm not liking about this trailer, and i hope my bad feeling is wrong, i really desperately hope i am wrong.

I never had any expectations of what the trailer would be, but in the end I actually like it so yeah. Now, the actual game itself, that's what I'm skeptical to see.

I didn't get that vibe from most if what you listed. The zeppelin even got me excited for a potential Tactics reference. But the old looking ship with the rocket boosters on it threw me for a whack. What on earth would make somebody want to build something like that?

Yes. Considering it's an announcement trailer, you shouldn't expect anything more than a fancy, "Confirmed; Fallout 4 is happening"

The atmosphere was just right. I could give a damn about 'graphics' and 'animations'. Why that's such a selling point for some, I'll never know. It looks more than satisfactory, IMO.

It is my hope that it helps answer some questions, like how Tenpenny made it to the US.
We got a steamboat in F3 with PL. Seems something with a bit more OOMPH might be needed for any boat running in deep waters.
We still don't know what may lurk in the oceans. Maybe some faction does, and they want to outrun whatever it is. ?

One of the things that helped give this feeling was that there was so much working tech going - or, those things stood out the most - on and everything seemed very organized, clean and calm despite the fast paced montage. If I didn't know it was a Fallout 4 trailer, I might've guessed it was a trailer for a game about colonizing Mars.

That's the thing, for me the atmosphere doesn't feel right, and one of the reasons im not liking the trailer that much. As i said, i would have been more excited with a teaser trailer that just says "fallout 4" and shows a destroyed city. This showed enough of the game that it doesnt feel like fallout to me, at least not in this trailer. I will reserve judgement on the game itself once we start seeing some gameplay aspects.

I could care less about the graphics myself, there's just something about the atmosphere that seems weird to me...

I'm just happy to hear FO4 has finally been officially announced and now we know the location. Only thing that irked me was the colors, a bit too warm for me, at times even looked a bit cartoony. I was definitely a fan of FO3's cool tones. Not even a big deal though, mods will let me change it up. The FO3 trailer will probably go down in history though, the reveal, the music..

Fair enough. The setting does look incredibly urban and non-desolate. And we saw like four flying machines plus several suits f power armor. It's definitely advanced by Fallout standards. Hopefully they're just showing off the new stuff, because we already know what the wasteland and patched together leather armors look like. I'm 80% certain that's what they're doing with the new and improved power armor.

The trailer has a very different feel from Fallout 3 and NV, which is exactly what I was expecting. Everytime Bethesda makes a "sequel", they build it from the ground up to be its own game, not just a shadow of what came before. It happens in TES, and now it is happening in Fallout. I can't wait to jump in.

After years of people complaining about F3 feeling too close to the day after the great war, as opposed to centuries after, I should think the advanced tech and brighter color palette would be in line with progression in the game universe.

I was far more excited for the trailer before it actually started but it was very nice to finally take a peak under the hood. Still, all we have seen so far is the shell of the game. What I'm really looking forward to seeing is gameplay and whether they picked bad voice actors for the billionth time. Seriously, their taste in VA is just terrible...

Then what is the point of even having lore in the first place if it is just going to be changed willy nilly just because they feel like it?

Besides, imagine playing a Fallout where you're in an old factory where the windows have been bordered up and throughout the building all you hear is low groans and shambling foot-steps and as you creep around trying to figure out what you're trapped in here with you see a crazy ghoul slowly turn the corner and with a blank expression simply raise his shotgun. You shoot him and everything goes quiet. Then you start to hear the shambling footsteps again, they're coming closer and closer and you begin to hear hateful raspy lines whispering from all around you as guns begin to fire off, lightning up the sources of your opponents briefly.

You really think feral ghouls are better than that^?

If they reverted ghouls back to what they once was they would be one hell of a lot more eerie. So what's to say that ghoul crazies can't be exciting and entertaining? And if they did this then there wouldn't even be any broken lore. It's a win-win situation. We get a super-creepy enemy to engage which fits the portrayal of Fallout 1's counter-part.

It's been a while, so perhaps I'm misremembering, but couldn't the ferals in NV occasionally utter coherent words as they died, suggesting craziness over monstrousness?
