How much are the Engineer and Operative alike, because i really think the hacking enemy sentry guns and defences should be left to the Engineer

This is a concern of mine as well. However, I do understand why an Operative would be the one hacking the enemy's defenses. The Operative has a timed/sticky grenade and a portable hacking device.....the Engineer has the turret, repair device, and mines. Aside from placing turrets and mines, an Engineer can also repair/deploy equipment as well as improve the weapons of his teammates. An Operative hacks, gathers intelligence, and sneaks behid enemy lines. I guess you can say the Operative can undo some of the things an Engineer does. Long live the Engineer

The classes should be balanced fine. Hacking is an operative skill, like it should be.
The engineer operates more defensively (Landmines, turrets) while the operative is support and offensive (Interrogating, hacking, spotting landmines)
Ofcourse, turrets can be deployed offensively as well, but it's still used to "guard" someone or something.

Have you ever played Team Fortress 2?

What saps the Engineers sentry? That's right, the Spy (Operative)

An excellent point. OP consider this the engineer supports his team with his turrets etc. Operatives go and wreck the enemies stuff,

They work together well though. Only operatives can see mines then only engineers can defuse them.

Offensive placed turrets are usually easier to hack, too. Because the most efficient position for an offensive turret is often also the easiest to access one.

But what im saying is i think the Operative is sealth and if you going to hack something for example a base there will most likly be other players there to kill you so that kinda takes away the purpose of stealth

Yes there will most likely be someone there to stop and kill you while you hack, but you can diguise yourself as an Operative so they won't know it's an enemy. I don't know if you lose your diguise if you start hacking or shoot someone but that might be what they do. Also if names do show up above your guy (correct me if I'm wrong) then your screwed with the whole stealth thing because once someone sees you lose the diguise they'll know that your an enemy and pass the news on and your free kills for all. See the Dark Messiah multiplayer Assassin for a similiar idea on diguise and stealth.

You don't lose you disguise while hacking. Also you can remote hack but its slower.

Ok thank you Wraith. I have been corrected you don't lose your diguise while hacking so your actually pretty safe unless someone realizes that your just sitting there....

My concern is that the SMART system is just never going to feel right. Don't get me wrong, I love it and it looks amazing but it just honestly sounds too "smooth" to be true.

Well we won't know until we play it and I'm sure the game disigners are thinking the exact same thing you are.

I can assure you it worked very well in the expo-demos.

I've seen them, but watching a person who made it run around and use it, and actually using it yourself are two different things.

That's good then... Still a bit worried, but not nearly as much.

I guess what I'm most concerned about is the individuality of characters beyond just the cosmetics. I know you'll be able to reassign just about anything intrinsic to the character, which I think is a plus, but I'm just hoping that the endgame doesn't turn out to be a bunch of players that are leveled to the max on opposing teams that always take the same skillset because it's either the most logical or just the only set-up that really "works" for a character. I really want it to feel like you can build a unique play style around the skills and weapons you've selected, rather than the nature of the game defining what skills should be selected, and leaving too many of the upgrades obsolete in later levels. I'm sure that is the intention of the devs, but I think that is the goal for a lot of games yet sort of misses the mark. I'm not losing any sleep over it though.

Im concerned that it would be too easy to reach max level, since its only lvl 20.
Im also concerned that the grenade launchers would be too rigged, because it looked rigged in the video.

Rigged as in overpowered.
It killed multiple enemies in just 1 shot, according to the video.

Did it? Without HUD elements, we don't know what it did.

- It could have just knocked them all down (not killing them)
- All those enemies could have been really low on life.

There are too many factors and not enough info to know for sure.

I'd still almost prefer that to rocket launchers being the weakest weapons in the game, like they were in Borderlands. I have a feeling they'll get it balanced by release. They seem to be on top of things. and as the Captain pointed out, there are too many mitigating factors that we don't know of for sure to make an accurate assessment of exactly what it did.

When you leveled up their proficiency and spec'd Brink for Rocket Launchers, they actually were pretty good. It helped to have a good mod and Rocket Launcher also. I have a Launcher and Melee spec'd Brick....and a shotgun/healer Roland, a revolver Mordecai, an elemental Lilith....
