I have the steam version of Oblivion. If anyone is curious you can't play Oblivion and Nehrim at the same time if you have steam. For me, that was no problem, I've had Oblivion for like four years, and have no problem with that. What you do is install the Nehrim file you download and then make a copy of your Oblivion folder and save it somewhere for when you want to go back to Oblivion, then you take the entire Nehrim game folder that was installed copy it and paste it into the Oblivion directory, go into something like OBMM and uncheck all of the current mods etc and only highlight the Nehrim stuff and walla you have a fresh game to play! For free, and trust me is worth it. The following I will put under spoil alert.
Spoiler
The start of the game is very refreshing. You're in a vast underground mine, and it feels like it is vast, and it really looks like a mine, with moving train carts and everything. The props are very impressive. The gameplay is challenging compared to Oblivion vanailla which is an awesome change (although not new for those you have a mod like OOO installed.)
I like the experience points you get to level up, for me it totally works. No complaints. The cut scenes are very nicely done, and the English translation is very good. Oh, coincidentally when I did copy the game, it kept all of the modded music I've added over time into the Oblivion music folders, but removed the Oblivion music for me. So no Oblivion music what-so-ever, which makes it feel that much more like a different game.
When i first left the mine (which took quite a bit longer than the original game the vista was awesome. The sun shining down over the distant mountains through the pine trees, glistening in a beautiful sky. Whew, it was beautiful. I am one that likes to take things slow and just explorer, and so that is what I started to do. And this world is vast. So far I've played 15 hours as time has allowed, and have done a couple of quests.
The leveling is fluid, the new enemies that you meet are a nice change. I was startled for example when what I thought was a pleasant deer (I've also left them alone) charges at me. It actually startled me. That was nice. I like the open world feel of this game. It does get slow in areas because of all of the trees and flora and fauna and stuff, so even a newer system can get bogged down on it. I have an inkling that an older system will not play this game well at all, unless at th lowest settings possible, and perhaps distant lods turned off, which is a shame for older systems, but not a problem at all for those of us who have decent rigs and want something like this.
The towns are well done, the lore, the number of books, the settings, the well crafted dungeons, and old forts, the loot, the low amount of money you earn, all of it I just love. Oh, and actually getting on the boat and having it fairy you across the lake, wow, what a nice surprise. You don't just sit on it and fast travel to where you want to go. That blew me away, I was like yea, this is the way it should have been done.
The puzzles that you have. For example when you are in a mine and have to figure out how to cover several holes where rats are coming out. Unfortuneitly it kinda gives itself away as to what you have to do (use the z button and use the bricks to cover the holes) but I figured it out by myself before I found that hint. Which is way cooler than just going from point a to b and killing stuff. I would really like to have that hint removed to make the game more immersible. If someone does get stuck they can always take two minutes to google how to get unstuck, no biggie.
Oh and the little lightening experience points, it is fun to look for those, and the ice claw and fire claws etc that were added that give you certain boosts to your stats are a nice addition to the game.

Wow, this mod is just awesome. The size of it, the well design of it all, the voice acting, the musical scores, the unique dungeons and quests, the lore behind it all. This game is on par with the best of any game out there. It takes the game engine that Oblivion uses and was offered to modders, and makes the game a much much better experience.
This is THE mod. In fact, I am enjoying this game much more than I ever did Oblivion brand new, and it is even better than Morrowind. Kudus to this game.

Oh, and btw are there mortar and pestals in this game? Because I'm walking around with a ton of ingredients I've picked up and still haven't found a mortal and pestal anywhere to make potions. I'm kinda getting burdened down with all the ingredients too. Tons of mushrooms. If anyone answers this just a yes or no will do. I hope there is, and I'll eventually find it if there is, I hope
