Thoughts on the GRENDEL-

Post » Tue Nov 17, 2009 5:38 am

The GRENDEL is the 2nd assault rifle available for unlock right before the scarab. At first i hated this gun, it seemed garbage and felt as if it was so freakin SLOW!!! But after getting bored, i decided to be much more tactical than usual. Nope i didnt camp, but i tried the Grendel w/ red dot and extended mags. I rushed but made sure to keep distance and to my amazement the Grendel holds TRUE stopping power. If you shot a guy with the first burst and followed it up it would almost be an instant kill. I found this gun to be superior in mid-long range. I seriously was just 2 bursting people and 3 burst when they had armor already on. Another thing in close range combat hip fire accuracy on that gun is amazing still on killing in 2 burst.

Im just surprised i overlooked this gun. BTW The Retriever++ perk seemed to work well with it because you wouldn't have to worry bout picking dog tags up while keeping distance to atleast avoid close quarter combat. I went 25-1 in instant action(FREE FOR ALL).

I've heard good things about the Grendel, especially from those who love its single shot attachment. I still love the Feline as my #1 since I like the quick, run-and-gun automatic play of it. I tried the Grendel but kept finding myself in close quarters scenarios. I believe I averaged a meager 14% accuracy in that game... not something I'd want for a precision weapon :(

Exactly how i felt at first, but it still possible to rush but still keep a certain distance on known enemies. Plus if you have fast enough reflexes youll hit that hip fire in an instant and drop em.

But hey my fav gun is the Feline for i love to just pull a Leeroy Jenkins and kill em all!!

You might be right about the grendel but it didn't fit me when I play like I do. I love the feline with the suppressor attachment and extra ammo. L-tag is pretty fun aswell but extremely hard to use.

How accurate is the Grendel when you hip fire it (without the assist of perks)? I remember burst/single-shot weapons from games like COD would be horrendous when you hip-fire them, and I think that experience is making me skeptical about hip-firing the Grendel.

Oh, and huzzah for Feline users!

Like i said again, FELINE = BEAST! but there are times when you just get bored of a certain gun and at times we overlook or judge it to quickly without giving it a chance.

@ ALAK the hip fire when very up close is pretty good and at time only take 2 burst. I dont use the perk for increased hip fire accuracy. But still try to avoid CQBs and have good map awareness.

I'm not a fan of the Grendel its fire rate is too slow. If they up the fire rate a bit it would be a good gun.

Fire rate is just something of getting used to. But 2 burst to kill a guy is still pretty quick. Also this is the only gun i can say will kill someone at long range with no trouble!

Exactly the same story :D
Hated it at first but now i love it.
I only use it on bigger maps tough. Else, I use the feline or scar on smaller maps.
My KD was 2.58 but since i used the grendel its 2.93 ( Yes I'm a KD whore)
Use it with the assault scope and the higher firerate perk ( Its better with it i think )

Same here, i would definitely put that gun on when playin on lighthouse or crashed bird or any larger than usual maps. Its perfect. I love the red dot and extended mags for it.

The Grendel only got me killed in single player, so no way in Hell do I have any intentions of using it in multiplayer.

I've been using this gun more frequently. I managed to get my accuracy up from 14% to 36% with this weapon. Hopefully, I can get bump it up to the 50-60% by the end of this week since my usage time is still relatively low. It's nice taking a break from the Feline (however awesome the little gun is) because I could use some variety in this game.
