Thoughts on the Guns in Brink

Post » Wed Mar 16, 2011 3:07 am

I just think fast paced action in brink (which i kust found out is rated T, which is rather funny as it seemed to be M) should have headshots because not many people are going to get them, but when they DO get a headshot with a strong gun, they should be rewarded with a kill, not "softening them up"

We have tons of threads on headshots, and if your light rifle has a strong enough buff, it can incapacitate a Light in one shot.

To the first part, I am pretty happy with them. To the second...

Maybe i'm wrong but I think he meant he shot people in the head more than he got kills. Meaning a headshot isn't a instant kill? I could be wrong......

This is correct. In W:ET you had to do multiple headshots to kill people. For each kill I did 1.8 - 2.5 headshots.

Actually, I completely hate OHKs sure its realistic but what about the fun of the game, we've heard from numerous interviews that this game is about balance and fun.

It's not even that realistic. Sure, if your head pops open like a watermelon, it is. But if you get shot in the body, you'd rather be incapacitated, like in BRINK or Killzone.

I'm pretty sure a Drognav will reload about as fast as an assault rifle, and the Drognav only comes with six shots stock.

The Drognav is also bolt-action and will get you killed if you miss a shot.

I dont think thats possible because one headshot is one kill, so 1-1 is the maximum ratio. Please reword.

Even in Call of Duty a headshot doesn't mean an instant kill.

The Drognav is semi-auto, according to that Brink Wikia.

Yikes at the model of the Barret in that screen shot there. The bolt handle is not attached to the gun, it just sort of hangs there.

No, see, it's got a groove there to accomodate the other edge.

Why that's necessary, I don't know. But it's just the right size.

I wonder if the light rifles would be able to attach extended magazines.

That is a weird-looking bolt on the Barret. Aside from that, the gun looks cool.

Why does the Drognav appear to have two magazines?

The DSR1 that the Drognav is based on is a bullpup style rifle (magazine behind the trigger) that has a spare clip in front of the trigger for quick reloads, or so you can carry a second type of ammo (such as armor piercing). This design feature was then passed down to the Drognav, but it probably is just there visually, I doubt it has any real effect to gameplay.

Hm. interesting. Thank you.

The guns we saw in the videos that slipped out of Pax East this year looked pretty neat. It seems you can put all kinds of attachments on a gun, all at once. One of the clips had the Gerund with a fore grip, a reflex sight of some kind, and a drum magazine. That is pretty neat. I read that the equip(switch) speed will increase with each attachment, which makes sense because the attachments would add weight to the gun.

What do you guys and gals think of the 24 guns in Brink? I think there really should be One Shot Kills in this game, because after all, a rifle shot to the head should really kill anyone.

Who needs OHK's. ill just use my light/operative to get to a high place and start popping off shots with my light rifle. taking down enemy's health while my buddies land mines/turret takes them out.

Yeah, I prefer stylized games to those that aim for realism. OHKs would hamper the fast-paced gameplay SD wants Brink to have.

I like the guns, but I'd like some things that weren't based on modern era weapons.

Well, weapon-customisation could be seen in detail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfvfIXTFWJc. A fully http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/7856/carb9fullmod.png for example, with similar attachments to the gun you mentioned.

No.

You can, however, instantly incapacitate an unbuffed Light player with an engineer-buffed light rifle.
At least that's supposed to be the way it works.

How would that svck? Unless that person was a medic or had the Downed Fire skill the only thing he'd be able to do is watch as you came up to him and stomped on his family jewels, or shot him in the face.
