Thousands of hours invested in Skyrim....well spent?

Post » Fri Feb 07, 2014 10:12 pm

Do you feel the endless hours that you have spent playing Skyrim could have been used to achieve more in your life, or do you think it's been time well spent?

If I wasn't posting on the forums or playing Skyrim, I'd be outside doing something I didn't want to do. I'd be betraying myself, all in the process of being betrayed by others. I'm a proud loner, Skyrim is a warm comfort blanket.

I'm 19, no bank account, no job.. I left school when I was 14. I wouldn't replace my time spent with TES for anything. There's always the future, I'm still young.

And I don't regret a second of it. Better than doing stupid [censored] "out there" in my most humble opinion.

So if you don't work and left school who funds your Skyrim habit?

I wouldn't call it a habit, just something that I enjoy playing and spend more time on than going outside.

I live with my mother. :)

Definitely time well spent. I enjoy playing games.

I could be considered an asocial loner but then again who cares. I enjoy doing what I do and that's the end of it. I'm still looking for a job though because I don't wanna live off my dad more than I have to... Job market's tough. I'm 20, btw.

SInce I only have a dad I kinda feel like a leech lol with him having to pay everything. I help out when and where I can though with what I have and get. My mom passed away two years ago.

No problem, you're young and spending time playing Skyrim is a lot better than other things people get in to. It's a great game and very absorbing (I love it). You have plenty of time to develop your life and I wish you all the luck for the future, best of luck my friend.

Games are a good way of passing the time, as long as they're kept in perspective imo. Sorry about your mom, my condolences my friend.

Yeah. I sometimes let gaming take precedence of things I need to do, though and that I actually regret.

Thanks. :)

Depends on what you mean, technically video games are a waste of time and are of no real importance to life and thus you are wasting your time when you could be doing something productive (like cleaning my room....... :D).

IF you mean, am i having fun and believe it is money well spent, DEFINITELY was it well spent.

Probably another one of the Modern Nords' heretical beliefs or something. *shudders*

Well I only have 680 hours in, but I don't regret a bit. I put 1-2 hours in the gym, then work 8 hours, then help out the 'rents on the weekend.. I go to school off and on too, and study for that. So I feel no guilt whatsoever in kicking back with a good video game in the evenings.

I suppose I could be like a lot of people, and veg in front of the TV, grumbling about how there's nothing on and wondering why I pay $50-100 a month for the priviledge. Heh.

I've invested about 1000 hours in Skyrim on 6 characters and don't regret a second of it. I love the game but try not to let it interfere with my family or business life. I actually look forward to having a day free to spend 6-8 hours on a character, however I have to restrain myself from getting too into it because if I did, everything else would go out the window.

Some say he was killed in Sovngarde, others say he's still out there. In any case, he will be back when it's time. :)

He is after all the World-Eater. :)

Been there done that, except this was another RPG. Which is why I try so hard to not get too attached to a game. Also a reason as to why I had to uninstall Skyrim.

To anyone else? No. To me? Hell yes. Lol, I even skipped class a few times when it came out. No regrets.

Considering the life I live, working, travelling, working out, hanging with friends, spending time with my girlfriend, reading books and so on, a couple of hours of playing Skyrim after a hard days work is time well spent.

Sure, I can probably do other things, but to be honest I don't know what. I don't watch TV because that does not interest me, most of the stuff broadcasted on the telly is just brainwashed garbage anyway with a few exceptions. With that said, I rather play computer games than watching telly, in the end, it's the same "time spent on nothing".

We didn't even need to do that. Our high school had a phone-in system where you could call a certain number, press your personal identity number (A Swedish thing) and the digital system then notes it down.
