Starting off for this thread, and to answer a few questions, LSH looks like she won't be appearing, and that 7 seasons have been confirmed, with a bunch of actors being given raises and contractually bound for the remaining seasons. However, this doesn't mean those characters could surivive for a whole 7 seasons, as contracts can include language that allows for early termination. Most likely, HBO is trying to ensure that if the actor/actress is needed, they won't have to enter negotiations and can just draw upon them.

I prefer this thread because of the witty title and more interesting OP.

I honestly think they've entirely written off that storyline. We heard nothing from Riverrun in Season 4 so it wouldn't at all surprise me if LSH just never appears, especially considering how Brienne and Pod's story has been re-written. A shame, considering her appearance was one of the few moments in FoC that actually got my attention.

Unfortunately, I've already my own thread because Jack was technically first to post the new thread.

And with...

Spoiler
Jaime going off to Dorne, much of the Riverrun story further deviates hard off to another path.
Which, as you noted, makes me think that Riverrun/The Trident got written out, much like the Iron Island. Unless they plan on...
Spoiler
have Jaime magically teleport to Riverrun and be at the siege.
Not sure how they'll pull it off, or if they even plan to. And I also agree. While it seems a lot of people in the groups I frequent for ASOIAF, I really enjoyed Brienne's storyline in AFFC. Maybe I just like women in armor :P

I've made my choice and am standing with it. :D

Spoiler
I didn't know they were sending Jamie to Dorne. In that case, yep, that storyline is either going to be completely written off or warped into something completely different. Wouldn't surprise me if Blackfish is either left as an unexplained plot point or they rewrite the story to have him murdered at the Twins with everyone else.

While I appreciate the popularity of Oberyn and the interest in Dorne it generated, I can't say I'm a fan of rewriting the story to capitalise on it. They did a similar thing with Tyrion where to jump on his surge to popularity as a 'hero' most of his complexity was written out.

Yeah, with what they're doing with Tyrion now, he doesn't suffer, or at least as hard as he did in the books. As noted in the previous thread, he's now too much of Joe Everyguy, and much of his character growth has been removed. Which is a shame. Hope there are a very instances of Cyvasse, as those are points to really show off Tyrion's wit, and allows the viewer to read into a character based on actions.

And while Dorne is significant, and gains further significance from here on out

Spoiler
from what previous are making things look like, a lot of what we'll see are the Sand Snakes becoming pretty different and samish at the same time, and a teen drama between Doran's only (show) son and Mycella. Don't know why they had to change the Sand Snakes, as each encapsulated a different aspect of Oberyn. Also, would it not hurt to get a woman who is more like Brienne (tall, muscular, not seen as being the standard definition of pretty)? And why make the nun sister a knife fighter? That was the one who seduced people. Heck, the nun Sand Snake isn't even at all a nun, or at least pretending to be one.

Spoiler
I was really annoyed with Tyrion's farewell to Jamie in the books. Rather than have the complexity of their relationship from Tysha and Tyrion's spiteful lie to have murdered Joffrey, they simply had a "feel good" hug to make us all feel warm and fuzzy rather than actually have Tyrion remain a complex character. That decision seemed to be entirely due to the showrunners not wanting anyone to think anything bad about poster-boy Tyrion. :stare:

When you sacrifice the complexity of your characters for cheap appeal and warm fuzziness you're doing your fanbase a disservice.

Presumably it was locked since the discussion was continuing in this thread.

May as well made the copy-paste intro a little more fun with a section of member allegiances.

I'll start with myself by saying I was first a Stark fan, then became a Stannis fan after reading A Storm of Swords. So, I'm going to put I favor House Baratheon. Allegiances doesn't have to be for who you want on the throne, just the House you like the most or something to that effect. Nights Watch and Essos factions count as well.

I remember in the show after the Red Wedding Bolton and Frey were talking and they mentioned the Blackfish being the only one to escape. I haven't made it that far in the books, but is there some real significance with him later on? A bit of vengeance perhaps? Frey also mentioned Edmure was locked in the dungeon and we never actually see him killed. In the books, and I don't care about spoiling this, is he still alive at this point?

Although I'm very much looking forward to Doran Martell, I am not at all interested in the Trystane-Myrcella nonsense.

Regarding the Blackfish, Brynden Tully, he was originally stationed at Riverrun during the Red Wedding. So, him still being alive is consistent, and there is significance with him in A Feast for Crows.

As for Edmure (spoiling for others)

Spoiler
he is still alive, and is used as a hostage by the Freys and Lannisters in an attempt to take over Riverrun.

At least with Myrcella, she did have plenty of significance. However, I found it kind of scummy that the show runners didn't even bother to alter the previous actress of Myrcella that she had been replaced, even though she was willing to reclaim her role. If the show runners were afraid of the former actress being too young, the new Myrcella is a year younger.
