Three days of gameplay are lost : V

I have just lost about 3 days of gameplay due to the game not warning about the failed saves. Was it so hard to add this essential feature in 1.8? Such things are expected in 1.01

What does "failed saves" mean? The save didn't actually save? The save file corrupted?
