Three Seconds From Murder!

Gallop, gallop.... WHINNYWHINNYWHINNYWHINNYWHINNYWHINNYWHINNYWHINNY.

WHINNYWHINNYWHINNYWHINNY.

Awesome, awesome stuff. Anyway, is there any way to get rid of the damn horse whinnying? Can I replace the sound file with a blank one or something? (What is it called?) Really, I'm looking for any possible answer here. The whinnying is *awful*. I just run places instead of using my horse because I can't deal with 15 whinnies on top of each other. I also don't want to mute my game every time I use my horse either, but that might be the only option..

Side quest(ion): Why is it sometimes that climb doesn't... work? Or it doesn't want to start, rather.. I can be running at a house for 2 seconds, cling on, and just start going up. Other times, I'll run at a house.. and.. just keep running at a house (straight on). The difference I see is that when I know I'm going to be able to climb, I sort of hop up and down while I'm running at a wall, whereas when I can't climb, there's no hopping. It's just straight running at the house.

Any fix for that?

I agree completely on the whinnying... the game calls on the sound file *way* too often. Unfortunately I do not know how to rectify this.

To reply to your side quest though: If I recall correctly, triggering the climbing action was always annoying because of the low tolerance in regard to the player's angle relative to the wall. (i.e. you can not be more than a degree or two off axis from perpendicular) - So next time you have trouble initiating a climb, while still pushing up against the wall, turn very slightly to the left or right by a few degrees. (Be sure to do so patiently) Good luck, and I hope this is accurate, as I have not played Daggerfall in at least 8-10 years.

Sorry, no help on the horse for you.

The climbing though I can give you a tip. If, while you are trying to climb, you are moving to the side slowly then turn ever so slightly to stop that. As stated by Wrothgarian you need to be nearly perfect on. Sideways motion is a good way to see how close you are.

Ah, yes. I forgot about the unintentional slow "strafing" next to the wall. (Sometimes it's really slow) That is an excellent tip from Slashes-With-Claws.
