Three vs N V

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:45 am

gaming site numbers always have FO3 at a 9.0 or better and new vegas is usually between 7.5 and 8.5 and those numbers include player ratings not just one persons opinion.

but hes not a gaming site he is him. Meaning he s telling us what he thinks like the op (some where in all that) asks.

Styles, you are not forced to join bos. You can clearly tell them no. "I don t want to join your little kiddie club" or somthing like that. You r forced to work with them they r the only option. You can be a slaver and help kidnap little kids to be sold to the highest bider. What is more evil than that?? And just grab random people for cash.

I should have put the follower quests as a pro in mine. There a alot more small side quests in nv than f03.

nv is a true new wave rpg f03 is not. I m not sure that Bethesda was really shooting for a true rpg. Just some aspects of one combined with a shooter in a total open world enviornment. I know they brought alot more people into the series, and made boat loads of cash on it.

I was really looking forward to seeing your ratings of the 2. Come on put em in

I don't find gaming sites reliable for the very reason that every piece of crap these days gets a 9+ if there's a big name and money behind the title, and because "professional" reviewers' priorities are mostly far from mine. I read some reviews to see what they say about it and if it matches with my liking, but I don't care the numbers they give because they're usually the opposite of what I would give.

I m with you on that. It s all about money. They give new cods like 8.5. On line shooters r ruined. Some of them are like negative 2 IMO lol

why are they the only option, that is what is bad, there are other options, the game just wont let us make them.

Well for getting the Enclave out of the purifier I think they were the only real option in CW. Talon comp. wasn t going to help from judging by my dealing with them. When I first saw a Talon Comp merc. A couple were fighting sm in the bottom of the hospital, and I was like woa humans that r not raiders. I helped them kill the sm and then they startd shooting me. lol

You re right there should have been a way to get involved with Talon Comp. and alot of quests. I liked the solid ending though, no speculation needed.

Wonder what it would take to be a Talon Comp. merc???? They didn t seem to be interested in recruting thats for sure TALON COMPANY !!!!!!!!!!!

That is what i mean, they only gave us the BoS to help, they made all other respectable factions "EVUL" so we couldnt help them.

Pretty much yeah:
--
Sarah Lyons: You ready to go in and kick some Enclave butt!!

me: No not really, actually Im pretty sure I'm going to poison the purifier, see Eden gave me this virus and.....

Sarah: THATS WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR SOLDIER! Want to be a Pride member and gets some cool power armorz?

me: ehhh.....no...I didn't really want to become one of your little club....besides why would I want some of your outdate hand-me down armor? My Enclave issued Telsa Armor suits me just fine.

Sarah: FINE JEEZ!

me: What? I hate you guys....

I love Fallout 3 but its storyline needed an overhaul.

lol that is funny. I felt like that some in nv though. A House/NCR ending is what I was working for. Then out of nownere the game just stats forcing me to do things I don t want to do. I couldn t even tell House I won t kill bos I am bos. Option not there... I bring in a robot called yes man, but have no option GD

I wanted to tell yes man to send the securitrons to back NCR again no option. HIS NAME WAS YES MAN. So I was much more frustrated with the nv endings than fo3. Games can t match human brains at critical thinking. The endings felt cheap, because it can t match our brains. Now fo3 put me in there my dead mother s dream, my dad myrtring himself the keep them away from his lifes work. The choice was clear. Enclave had to be stopped by any means necessery. lol Sarah Lyons got mad where u told her that she even calls u an a$$. She just doesn t pretend you didn t say it. lol

You know what, you are being fickle, they can script every single thing, be happy that you get more than 1 viable choice, like in Fallout 3 (You had three choices, live, die, or die)

No you just had to work with them. You could clearly tell Sarah Lyons you were not going to join the cub scouts (or what ever it was you could say) She got mad and told u that u didn t have to be any a$$ about it.

Who else had what it took to knock down that force field. TALON COMPANY????? They didn t care about you. They were not housed in the Pentagon with a giant commie crusher either. Bos was it. That was the unsettled wild, wild east. That wasn t the nice settled west coast. I got to Vegas and I was like... whats the problem here??? I got shot in the head???? I thought to myself I ll get shot in the head like 500 times in this game. I went around and said to myself this place isn t in any danger. A weak group of fake romans that didn t even have Legion sheilds. They don t use Roman combat tactics. Only 1 out of 4 use a ranged weapon . I wanted to start delivering packages again.

There is no denying Fallout NV had more freedom than FO3. In FO3, I was FORCED to join the Brotherhood and destroy my favorite factions.

To me, FO:NV had more variety, mechanics and better script, but FO3 had more freedom and was more polished, plus I found dungeon crawling there fun.
Both games have their pros and cons and I would rate them equal.

Maybe the polish part, but I have to disagree with you on the freedom part.

In FNV, there are many more options to shape the world. I could join any of the factions for the ending, or go by myself. Thats freedom in my mind.

In FO3, I war forced to join the BOS and destroy the Enclave. I don't consider that freedom.

Now if they would have called me first, l would have told them how to make a fake roman legion #1 They would have had Legion shields that had about 25 dt. #2 When in danger they would have closed ranks with there shields up like real Roman soilders did. Not spead out or run like a ker. #3 They would always have archers with them. Like the real Roman Legion operated. They would have been shooting flaming arrows at you lighting u on fire so u couldn t see crap, then they would have charged at u. #4 instead of machettes they would have had swords like the real Roman Legion. I would have thrown a few highly repaired fire arms in as well. But no they didn t check with me. They need me to hold their hand. Tell um its ok to make an enemy who can hurt the player besides at the very end of the game and in their leaders tent. CL what an abortion.

I didn't mean freedom of the storyline. What I ment was that you in FO3 could travel to any general direction, while in FO:NV the only sensible thing to do at first was to travel south, because of deathclaws.

P.S. In FO3 there was actually something you could find in a wasteland.

You were not forced to join bos. Forced to work with them. You could clearly tell them no to joining. The story was set so you couldn t like the Enclave. They were stealing your dead mother s dream. Your father martyred himself so they couldn t steal it. The story made me want to crush the Enclave. I was in that game.

In nv I don t have any feelings. I wish I had the option to go back to delivering packages. That place is fine.

The world in NV seemed more logical, like everything had a reason for being there, that aspect really helped maintain immersion for me. That and with NV constantly shining in the background and the theme of gambling weaved throughout the game, it just made the whole experience more memorable. There's something about the world Obsidian created in NV that captured my interest, something that F3 never had, and that's why I choose NV.

For my own two caps, I rather enjoyed both.

Fallout 3, I thought was a bit more dynamic to explore. But that's really Bethesda's particular cup of tea. They are very good at making very large contiguous worlds for players to explore. Not always so great with grounding it all with over-arching themes; and it is more of a hodge-podge of "stuff," but if you ask "What is Bethesda really good at," the answer's probably going to be "making very big worlds that are really fun to explore."

I also liked how NV was a bit more grounded, the area felt more "fleshed out" over all. You got a sense of a bit of an ecosystem, and how the Mojave "worked." Fallout 3 was like finding lots of really cool places, with really basically no connection between them - in NV, maybe they didn't quite hit the bar Bethesda set in some respects. But I also liked how well thought-out everything was. You know what Novac is there for, why it was settled. You know why someone would choose to settle there. In each settlement, you can get a sense of how they're actually managing to survive there.

There's things I liked about both games; and there's also some stuff that bugs me in both of them. I think that's what's fun about having two developers building two versions of effectively the same game.
