Three Word Dragon Shouts right? so....

Post » Sun Jul 03, 2011 11:01 pm

We all know Todd stated, “there are three words for each shout, and there are three levels to them" so why is the phrase for fire breath only two? (Yol Toor) and the one for frost breath only two also? (Iiz Slen). Has anyone else noticed this and have an explanation?

It probably means they didn't show the full three shouts in the demos. Only the first two for those shouts.

He has also said that you can use longer dragonshouts with more words and such.

Could it be that those are only the level 2 versions of the Shouts?
So for example, the Dragon Breath would be "Yol" at level 1, "Yol Toor" at level 2, etc.
I can only imagine that the longer you charge your Shout, the more words you'll spit out along with the ability.

That's what I reckon.. and how people have talked about the fire breath looking more similar to a fire ball, maybe with the last word it looks more like the fire breathing of the actual dragons we've seen?

This is what I was thinking.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that all 20 shouts have 3 words.

All the shouts have three levels of power, so a level 1 shout is less powerful, but has smaller cool-down time, and a level 3 shout is more powerful and has bigger cool-down time.

At first you can only find the first level of a shout, but as you read more walls you might find the next parts of the shouts and know about the next level ones, but you have to absorb dragon shouts to be able to activate the next levels.

When you can cast the 3rd level of a shout, when you start to cast, you keep pressing the shout button, but you can release the button anytime you like, so if you hold it for a short time, you cast the first level shout, but if you keep the button in longer periods, you can cast the next level shouts as well, but the cool-down time depends on the actual shout level that you cast.

The player character in the demos, might know the ultimate level of the shouts, but kept the cast button for a medium time, and cast the second level of the shouts, for a medium power effect, and cool-down, and the time to cast the shout shortens as well.

Dragon Shouts will have a cooldown?
Does this mean that the level 1 version of a Shout will share it's cooldown with a higher level? Or a level 3 sharing with the lower levels?
If so, this means I'll be trying to master the appropriate times for each version of a Shout.

Also, how will the Shout levels work with things like the Dash ability? Does anyone have any ideas?

Ahh, your words hurt my feelings eyes, but yes for those shouts, all the different levels of the same shout share the cool-down time, and I do not know what you mean by the Dash ability.

I think I remember reading about an ability in the July PSM that "would move the player very quickly from place to place, ideal for moving away to pelt your enemy at range or getting in close to finish off a fleeing foe". Or something like that.

Yes, that would be another one of those dragon shouts, so it would have three levels of power and would have its own cool down time for each power level.

And thanks for the decolorization. :)

They power up, so the longer you hold the button down the more words you unleash

Eh, what doesn't bother me might bother others, and let's not have any of that unnecessarily. Just looking for a way to quickly distinguish if someone is responding to me or not.

Back on topic, however.
I like the idea of having cooldowns on the Shouts. When I first read about Whirlwind Sprint I feared that I would end up mashing my "dash" button like in Fable and just mindlessly peppering enemies with arrows/ ranged and rinse&repeat.

So that means we have to kill a grand total of 60 dragons to unlock all levels of dragonshouts... should be fun :D

Maybe only two words were used because Todd didn't actualy USE the third shout?
