I'm through with this game!

Just to chime in here, you guys are a little misinformed. I play on PS3 and the only time I've ever had crashing problems is in Bitter Springs, McCarran, Forlorn Hope, Red Rock, and The Strip, which are problematic across the board. Other than that. In the year or two I've been playing New Vegas the only time I've had real trouble play wise is if I've played for consecutive 5-6 hours relentlessly.

Same here. I can play New Vegas and Skyrim and the only time I run into problems, with either of them, is when I have been playing for 4-5 hours straight.

Ok. Thanks Gingy. I'm going to try turning down my graphics settings. The odd part to me is that the game ran fine for over 50 hours then we crash........................

I don't ever have problems after playing for that long on PC.

I have definitely played for longer than 5 hours at a time before.

The PS3 is known to have problems with Skyrim and New Vegas. A patched game in PC and XBOX have no problem other than the occasional random crashes.

Well everyone I may have stumbled into some good luck. The last things I tried are these: 1. I ran a registry cleaner and 2. I lowered all of the graphics settings in the game control panel. After I did that I've been able to play for roughly 3 hours with no crash. Go figure? I'll keep you posted.

G,
I am happy to hear you are able to commence your journey with the fantastic, stupendous FNV!
Perhaps, you can try slowly bumping up the graphics; the registry clean most likely got the problem solved.
It's sure odd that you were getting on just fine for over 50 hours, then the comp decided to be a bleep.

I play on the PS3. The larger the save file becomes, the more bugs there are. My advce is to save every time you do do something important or every 5 minutes, whatever comes first. Glad you got your game running again. Mine will forever be terrible. ha ha

One other thing. On my game, if I press F11 it makes a regular save without having to go into the menu. I don't remember whether it's a part of a mod or a NVSE command but you can try it out. Normal saves are way more stable than quick saves and auto saves. It's been that way since Oblivion I think.

So do you actually make save files manually yourself, or only use auto and quick saves....it seems that you don't.
And maybe it's just a matter of the graphic levels and amount of action going on in the game world overwhelming your PC and causing it to crash.

That's what I was thinking. It seemed when he typed out what he had in his save folder, all he had were Autosave and a quicksave. My save folder doesn't look like that. It has 1 autosave and the rest are the names of my couriers.

I too, turn Auto and Quick saves off. Saving every 10 minutes or so is a must and a good opportunity to take a screenshot.
Excellent advice Razalas, making 2-3 saves for a single character and alternating between them for backups is also the method I use.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but playing on the PC is stable and the graphics are better. Plus you can install mods.
Anyhow hope FO4 is more like FO3 than New Vegas. NV was cool but FO3 was somehow more fun. I duno, maybe just less cowboy-y. Cowboys are cool and all, just in Fallout, I'm expecting more military style stuff than wild west.
Well anyhow good luck with the troubleshooting. I'd just go build a a pc tho.
I think I'm in the wrong thread. See ya.

>proceeds to rain on everyone's parade

The first part where the pc is more stable fits in the thread. But how is saying "FO4 should be like FO3 and not like FONV" on topic?

Get the facts before you judge. And I'll be glad to offer any facts. And it didn't color my opinion of the game: 52 hours is quite a bit of gametime for me to understand the feel of the game. If I can't finish it, I just can't finish it. I WANTED to play it, I wanted to finish it. It's not my fault the game broke.

52 hours is nothing for Fallout.

X360 is a pain too when it comes to crashing. That's just because X360 can't handle being played for 6+hrs without RRoD'ing. FA3 was worse than FO:NV, and now my PC version of FO3 is crashing due to that infamous FOOK2 Level Crash. Ugh.

Anyhow hope FO4 is more like FO3 than New Vegas.

Style is completely different. It was also MEANT to be that way. FO3 is the patriot's game while FA:NV is more for the wild card. The only complaint I have with New Vegas is a lack of city-center exploration. Vegas was a big city in the FA universe, why can't we explore more multi-tier buildings? That was fun in FO3.

On a side note...

Has anything even been released as far as FO4? I dont news.

I've reached over 500. Not sure if that's a lot.

Probably more than 500 on Fallout 3.
