Throw us a frickin' bone, Bethesda!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:10 pm

OK, so yesterday if you asked me whether confirmation of TES V would be enough to keep me satisfied for the forseeable future, I would probably have said, "yes". However, now that we do know that the game is on its way, I know that I can't be the only one yearning for some more info on the game. I know that Pete Hines tweeted to say that screen-shots and articles will be with us "soon", but, damn it, I want them now. When Oblivion was announced in December of 2004, I seem to remember a statement from Bethesda outlining what the game is all about, and a brief description of the plot. I'm not certain, but I also seem to remember a few screen-shots immediately after Oblivion was announced- I remember in particular that classic (albeit doctored) pic of the heavily-armoured knight on horseback, with a beautiful mountain range in the background:

And this one with the player-character looking as if he's about to venture out into a lush, dense forest, which just begged to be explored.

I am sure that these sorts of screen-shots and info-laden interviews and articles are indeed coming "soon", but now that I know that the game is definitely on its way, I am totally craving some sort of in-game screen-shot so that we can get a sense of the game's aesthetics.

Doctored heavily?

Oblivion turned out to look way better than that screenshot.

Its the middle of a Sunday. You expect people to work through the weekend just cause you want screenshots? Patience, I'd say they'll have something for us within the week.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I am referring to my belief that the screen-shot of the guy on horseback couldn't actually be achieved in-game. I'm not saying that it was "doctored" in a derogatory sense- a similar screen-shot that's had the camera-angle fiddled with slightly would be most welcome.

I think we may even see something Monday morning. But as Lady Nerevar said. It's the weekend, not to mention it hasn't even been 24 hours since announcement.

Indeed. And they're all probably hungover from the announcement party anyway. :celebration:
We've still got almost a year to go. I'd like to be feed in steady intervals, rather than try to take it in all at once.

Let's hope the information stream doesn't evolve into the whole

"SPEARS HAVE BEEN REMOVED?!"
"AXES ARE BLUNT WEAPONS?!"

debate a few years ago.

Haha, I remember how awesome I thought the graphics in Oblivion looked when I saw those screenies for the first time. Oh my, five years ago.

But anyway, patience is a virtue. ;)

I asked Pete Hines what he meant by "soon" on twitter but right now he is on a 14 hour flight to London, England. Last time they did voice acting for Patrick Stewart and Terrance Stamp they went to London.

I'm hoping for 'CROSSBOWS ARE BACK, YAY!' type of responses.

(I'm not saying they will be back, but people definitely complained about it in Oblivion, and it would fit the setting of Skyrim I think)

Hmmm. Be sure to keep pestering him via Twitter once he arrives in the UK!

May the speculation commence concerning which British voice actor Hines is on his way to meet. Brian Cox would be pretty rad!

I'm actually hoping for a "Fallout:New Vegas with Swords" campaign.

The game was revealed last night. While I would love to see more info, just knowing the release date makes me happy.

Bethesda just tossed us the biggest bone they've given us in years. I am perfectly content waiting weeks until the next Game Informer to learn more.

This. I was surprised that TES V was announced, but I was even more surprised it came with a release date straight away.

While I agree with the sentiment, I must point out that it's worse for us mere mortals not living in the US for whom getting a copy of GI is a royal pain in the backside.

I doubt we'll get anything juicy before the Feb GI though, or GI wouldn't have bothered with the exclusive.

E3 2011 though. That should be amazing.

A single screen would be a prudent idea. They have a huge amount of attention right now and tossing out one single screen could be incredibly beneficial to the "hype train."
