throwing darts?

they pretty much defined morrowind for me. I vote yes. I will not buy skyrim unless I can throwing darts.

The thrown weapons in Morrowind were too weak to be of much use. Sure, they could be effective, but there were not enough in the game to be an effective weapon all the time.

Not sure if they need to be stronger, but there does need to be more, if they are included.

Hmmm... I don't know. Could be a cool assassin weapon. But at the same time, don't care too much about throwing darts or spears or polearms.
It could be cool, but I'm still pretty neutral.

If they are in there shouldn't be as weak as in Morrowind.

I don't think they should do more straight damage but there should be other advantages. For example they could carry more poison than arrows. But lets face it. Darts aren't very useful even in real life.

Weapons like throwinf knives stars and daggers aren't supposed to be extremely damaging, they were ment to cripple and slow down, and at best mortally wound or outright kill an enemy based on locational damage.

Morrowind and Oblivion did not have this.

Maybe Skyrim? with regards to locational damage anyway, if they arent putting in spears because its a "superficial" skill...then I doubt throwing weapons of such magnitude will be included

If they were to place them in, I'd rather see the Throwing Knives/Darts assigned a special button rather than being forced to equip it like a ranged weapon. The hot-key could be unlocked by a specializing down the Throwing Weapon (or ranged weapons, whichever works) tree which would allow Assassin/Thief characters to throw them without hindering them (ala Assassin's Creed). All mostly wishful thinking though.

A throwing knife will cause the same damage as stabbing. Hit a vital organ or major blood vessel, and death. Throwing weapons are basically a hit/miss weapon, if it hits, it kills.

When throwing, a knife loss energy on the flight, besides, when stabbing the blow goes straight, which is more effective in the case of that kind of weapon. So, no. A throwing knife won't cause the same damage as stabbing.

I've thrown my Bowie Knife about 2 inches into a pine tree. Don't know for certain, cause it was a pain to get it out. I would assume that if a person where in place of that tree, they'd be dead. I haven't stabbed that tree, but I don't imagine I could do much better. Plus that'd hurt if it glanced off. Perhaps a throwing knife isn't quite as powerful as a dagger, but I'd trust that knife to kill just as much thrown as stabbed. I don't know the conversion of pine tree to human flesh, but I think it's safe to say that a pine tree is tougher to get through. I'd be happy to test that out, but I have yet to get any volunteers.

Yes to ranged weapons diversity, although I consider darts to be a particularly pathetic sounding weapon I'm not against having more choices, throwing hatchets and knives on the other hand are more than welcome in my Skyrim
