Throwing weapons and bows/crossbows

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:47 pm

I really would like to see throwing weapons and bows/crossbows be affected by the wind.

Because at a heavy snow storm your arrow or throwing weapon should not go straight forward.

What about you guys?

Why would I throw a perfectly good bow? :P

I think technology hasn't caught up that far unless individual cells (if we still have cells, probably) could maybe change the projected path of the item.

Maybe along those lines but I doubt it will be in there.

There's realism, then there's unnecessary realism. Having to take the wind into account like modern day snipers do isn't really necessary in my opinion. I mean, it might be a nice challenge on windy mountaintops or something, but it's definitely not something I'd want to have to deal with all the time.

Lol.

Most people voted yes.

Everyone who doesn't want it has posted a comment. :P

The point is that the wind will not fully affect the arrow or throwing weapon. Only with heave storms and such.

Projectiles and spells? No. AI would have to handle it too.
Rain and snow and other particle effects? Yes

How does an arrow react to wind anyways? Do you shoot into the wind or with the wind?

No, but the lower your level, the more your cursor should shake when firing an arrow.

I honestly cant decide which way I want it.

I like realism, but bows were already difficult to use.

On a side note, maybe we could have lock on bows this time, and the accuracy was dependent on your characters skill.

Maybe.

I think that the higher your skill in Marksman, the less the wind should affect your stuff because supposedly the character is experienced enough to know how to compensate.

Slight necro, but are throwing weapons and crossbows even confirmed to return in Skyrim?

No. Just no.

I could accept wind on a mountain type or in a storm messing up Marksman but it needs to effect spells and melee combat too. Like with spell casting your arm shakes from trying to keep balance or in combat you can stumble easier from the wind causing issues with your balance.

No, not at this time. However, thread necromancy isn't bad, Necromancy is just misunderstood

I just dont want bows and arrows to be plagued by the same bullcrap, inaccurate guns from the recent fallout games.
Really, I'd just like more accuracy if your crouching/staying still and then lower it while moving, realistically.
