I'd probably freak out, cry, puke, man up (finally) and escort my way toward some good structure which (face it, if you were in this position, you would not go to something that looks like a heap of crap sitting on the hill aka Megaton) would probably be the closest thing to a house, Silver's shack. She'd yell at me, I'd scream and she'd whip out that .32 and I'd be gone. I'd probably head to Springvale School then and meet my fate in a raider ambush.

Happy days...

After the denial wears off, I'd run my ass over to Megaton as fast as I can. Assuming that I survive, I'd do various odd jobs for the citizens of Megaton until I have enough caps to equip myself with decent weaponry. I'd then hitch a ride with the next caravan and make my way over to Rivet City. If I can survive DC, I'll make my residence there and try to get a job working for Doctor Li due to my science skills. Hopefully, I could become her successor.

First, I would run straight o Megaton. And I will be sure to never travel at night, since I hate traveling in a dark unkown habitat/wasteland. I'd disarm the bomb (I'm good with programming and wires and stuff) and get a house.then, I would stock up on items and go out each day exploring the wastes, collecting food, and then returning to Megaton. I would fill my fridge with food, fill my lockers with cothing and armor, my desk upstairs with mini nukes as decorations, the desk full of junky stuff, and the cabinet full of guns and ammo. Evetnually I would move on to Rivet City, where I would go into trading and try to get a room. Then, after all that, move on up north and kill Dave from the Republic of Dave, and take over the city and be a dictator. People will fear me and anyone who plays wrong will be shot in the head/heart/both.

Eventually, after years of life in the wastes, I would go up to Aerefu, jump off the highway, and let the Super Mutants and Molerats eat my scraps. :foodndrink:

I'd walk outside and instantly get cut open by a group of Raiders, probably. But if I wasn't a defenseless nerd, I'd probably make some friends, grab some weapons, and have some fun hunting down Raiders before settling down in Tenpenny Tower.

Realistically? I would turn around first and try my best to get back inside vault 101. Using my wits and knowledge of the wasteland (assuming it's the same) and have them acknowledge that they need me for supply runs with the caravans. If I cannot get inside the vault, I will go talk to silver and explain whats going on. She might think I've been out in the heat for too long, but it's worth a try to see if she is willing to team up to survive. Especially since she can't survive on her own with just a measly pistol. I'll just need that place as a place of operations. Once we established a cohesive force, all plans made I'll make the next step. I'll tactfully clear out the Springvale school (yes still thinking realistically) using my pistol. I've learned a lot from reading about tactics and practicing them as well. Once I secured the school (plenty of patience) I'll take the loot back to my base of operations then head to Megaton to trade what I have for ammo and guns. I'll continue this process until I have adequate weaponry for hunting and defenses. I'll eventually take the whole springvale and turn it into my base. Recruiting people as I can to make a new lawful establishment. From there I don't know. Assuming I survive my first assault against raiders.

First off, head to megaton and help out with all the odd jobs around, being in the army as a medic i could help out simms with enforcing law and the local doc with med stuf, id shack up with silver and stay at her home for a while, play the good guy until iv made a few caps and got sum good guns, split with jerico and blow that mother into next week.trade sliver off to slavers, head to tenpenny tower to collect my reward, kill tenpenny, takeover the tower and with jerico as my 2nd incommand start a wastland malisha and trade with parradise falls & talon company. then id expand my opperation to point lookout and the pitt, imploy the smugglers, raider army & slaves then use my wealth and factorys to massproduce my own power armour and turn my malisha into an unstoperble army :woot: .

Im sure it would seem somewhat insane for a person to answer his own question, but I went over it multiple times in my head last night, and I know now what I would do.

Well, we all know that anyone thats been "Thrown into the Wastes" is going to need some time to recollect themselves, so I would obviously take a moment or two. Before running off to Megaton. (Im sure the 10mm should suffice for that short trip) Im fairly handy with a wrench, so I'll assist Walter with fixing the leaks in the Megaton pipelines, since I already know where they are, It shouldn't take long. I'll get a couple caps out of it too.
With which I can buy some clothes and a few supplies.

Thats when I am approached by Burke, who will of-course offer me an opportunity; one that I will take. I will agree to blow up Megaton, using his device. ( I wouldn't know how to disarm a nuke anyway, so I can't help Lucas Simms, even if I wanted to. ) But before the deed is done, I will need a companion. I will approach Jericho, saying this town is about to get blown half-way to hell, if you wanna live, pack up your stuff, and come with me.

Im gonna need protection in that trip from Megaton to Tenpenny Tower, and I sure as hell can't do it myself, so Jericho should suffice. Once there, I'll watch Megaton go up in a mushroom cloud ( ooh..pretty.. ) and accept my room here at TT, while Jericho will probably join the Security Team. I'll have em ice Roy Phillips on the way, as I know he's planning a revolution. I'll probably work in a shop to earn enough caps to feed off of, and I'd be satisfied with it too. I'd have to pop a RadAway once a month, but thats about all the pain I'd have to feel.

The rest of this should only be read if you've finished the Main Quest

Spoiler
Save for the fact there's the blood of an entire town on my hands. I will watch from the Balcony for a glimpse of Liberty Prime. I might have to wait for years to see it happen, but I'll do it. When I see him, I will secretly sneak out, asking Jericho to join me, and maybe make ammends with his Evil past. Having a decent "Speech" skill, Im sure he'd wanna join in, and we'd head for where the Purifier should be.

Jericho might not make it all the way, but he would've protected me long enough to reach the place, and I would've picked up some skills myself by then. Once inside the Purifier, and secretly wait behind LW. As he hesitantly heads in to sacrifice himself I'll yell "Stop!" and offer myself instead. Thats how I'd get my Karma back up, and finally rid myself of the Wastes forever. If I manage to survive (which I doubt) at-least my sins would be wiped, with all the lives I have now saved.

That, I think would be a life well spent in the Wasteland. Of-course, I know that I could be killed at any instant, so this whole story might be cut short at any point. All this would take place assuming I survive past the first Yao Guai I see.

Edit: Post Structure

I just made a character which will do exactly what I stated my previous post. I suggest you all give it a try too.

Play realistically.

Interesting... but how could you do exactly what you mentioned in that post? You can't really run a shop, and I don't get how you'd do the whole Liberty Prime thing, seeing as you're not even doing the main quest. Please do explain.

But the funny thing is, I did pretty much exactly what you did at the beginning (get Jericho, help Walter, blow the town up. But I milked the town for caps as much as I could). I intend to play realistically, too.

The beginning bit, I'll do myself. I can't exactly follow it to the T. But I'll then branch off, and improvise due to the games limitations. Ofcourse, I'll have the difficultly on Very Hard for this play-through.

Edit: For the 'running a shop' bit, I'll just do some basic trading with caravans, or find scraps out in the wastes to sell. That covers the money. I'll just ignore the whole redemption part of the story. :P

First thing I'd do is find The Lone Wanderer and put my skills at fixing things to good use. Perhaps even rig them up a car. As payment I get first choice in any loot brought home. Once I'm good and settled I'll make my way over to Rivet City and see if I can't settle down there. Or perhaps join the Brotherhood, as again I'm good at fixing things.

Good stuff. I admire your dedication. Personally, I'd never be able to play the game without adventuring near on every day.

Anyway, if I was thrown into the Wastes, I have no idea what I'd do. Chances are, I'd take up on Burke's offer (I would be hard, but [censored] it, it's a Wasteland, not the perfect world), but if I couldn't do that due to my feeling towards human life or I didn't know how to rig the pulse charge, I'd try living with Silver -- she's friendly enough once you get to know her.

I wouldn't be out in the Wastes much -- I can't use a gun for my life, which is what would be on the line. :P I could try educating people maybe or teach them how to read, if people would be willing.

Since I'm lazy in real life, I probably wouldn't become an adventurer and go out looking for trouble. Instead I'd take Burke on his offer and blow up Megaton so I can get that nice clean suite in Tenpenny Tower. I'd probably feel incrediably guilty afterwards, but I'd find some way to make up for it. I'd spend the rest of my days in my cozy plush apartment listening to the radio, watching TV (if TVs work in the Wasteland), eating meals brought up by Margaret Primrose, and chatting with Daring Dashwood about his old adventures. ^_^

Ahhh, now that would be the life, my good friend. Chances are, I wouldn't be able to make the trip to Tenpenny Tower, which svcks. I'd need some muscle, like Jericho, so he might be given a share of the caps I got from Burke.

I think I could make the trip, I'd just have to move quickly and avoid danger. I would probably spend some of the money on Clover to be my personal bodyguard as well as my slave to help around the house. :D

I'd wake up in my boxers, with a 10mm pistol at my side and 2 clips, that means 24 rounds in total. Also, I'm a pretty heavy built dude, so Mole Rats and Dogs would be no problem to take down in hand-to-hand combat.

I'd freak out at first, and if that doesn't kill me by a heart attack, I'd probably head straight to Megaton, killing any [censored] that'd try to kill me on the way. Once I get there, I'd go inside, find Lucas Simms and explain my situation (leaving out the whole "I'm from another world" thing, just saying that I woke up like this with no memories from when and where I'm from, but with knowledge about the Capital Wasteland), and asking him for shelter, some food and some clothes. Him being the town sheriff, and a good guy, he'd probably give me some sort of wasteland clothing or something, and a meal to fill my stomach. I'd then ask him to become a citizen of Megaton, and if he declines, then I'd disarm the bomb in the middle of the city, which would probably earn me some caps and a house. (200 year old bombs tend to be a bit rusty, and nuclear devices got failsafes in case of a failure in the wiring, so that they don't spontaneously blow up, so messing with some wires here and there should do the trick.)

I'd then go to Moria, seeing if I could buy me a decent hunting rifle for the caps that I'd earn from disarming the bomb, and some ammo for it too. I'm a decent shoot, and since raiders just are stupid punks, they'd never see the bullets coming. So I'd head to Springvale, looting whatever I can find (I'd get some kind of bag in Megaton for my loot), and convince Silver that I'm there to pick up the money for Moriarty, but in a nice and understanding way, so she would give them to me no problem. Then snipe the raiders in the Elementary School, loot their [censored], head back to Megaton, and help them rebuilding the city with my modern days knowledge about technology, architecture, and whatnot. I'd then be an honor citizen or something, and live happily ever after with my butler robot in my house, spending the days at the saloon talking to Jericho, hooking up with some chick in the town, and whatever there is to do in that town.

And I'd find a way to murder Moria in her sleep. Because she is so [censored] annoying.

Actually, I went over the idea, and thought, Raven Rock is actually the best place in the Wasteland. (Unless LW decides to blow it to kingdom come)
I would apply too, and after some tests, when they realize Im perfectly pure, they might allow me in. Although I would take up a position besides soldier.
Im decent with guns, but I don't want to be anywhere near LW. I'll just hang back in Raven Rock, do some experiments or something. They'll give me a job,
no way they'll let me stay there useless.

And I could fund the journey too, same as my original plan, but instead of TT, head to Raven Rock. Only problem is, there is no way I can make them believe me
without blood tests or samples or something, they won't believe I have knowledge about Wastes unless I prove it, and knowing them, they'll zap me with plasma
before I even have the chance. Its worth a shot though.

Exactly. I mean, it's a wasteland full of dangerous critters and dangerous people, and it seems you need to be like them to survive -- and I am neither. Yeah, I'm quite smart, but nowhere near smart enough to start something up. I don't think I'd be able to get many caps, either.

So, by looking at it that way, even if I get killed by the Enclave... oh well. But if they accepted me... I've done it! I've already been given a life better than near on anyone in the Wasteland. Despite not being very good with a gun, I'm a quick learner, so I'm sure they'll teach me some good skills. Besides, my abilities would be better suited in other fields such as science and research -- I'd happily be a test subject (assuming it's reasonably safe) for the great Enclave. Heck, I might not do anything, but I'm pure, and that's all that matters.

But who knows, they might just use me to repopulate America. As I said, I'm a pure human, after all. :D

EDIT: Typo.
