Thrown into the Wastes.

Team up with the Enclave! I'm a pure-strain human and all...
All right well it wouldn't work.. I admit.. Not least because I'm not even American. But if the Lone Wanderer didn't exist, the Enclave would most likely victorious so at least I could try... Nothing to lose. Especially since I know everything about Enclave's written history, making myself able to infiltrate the organization.

Besides that I would probably get to Megaton and start a life, cry myself to sleep and curse my decision to buy that goddamned game that threw me into its own sadistic world.
I guess I could make a fortune making world maps, teaching about pre-war life, and stuff.

Yeah, I'd have to try and make a go of it. I would be way more conservative than in the game, though, that's for sure.

I think I'd eventually try to work on water treatment or hydroponics if I lived long enough.

#1 Move into Megaton.

#2 Knowing the date the Lone Wanderer is due to come out of the vault, I would wait for him/her and convert them to my cause.

#2 Use my real life skill in guns to help out Lucas Sims.

#3 Disarm the bomb to get the house.

#4 Get clean soil brought into the house for "experiments" and use it to filter dirty water so I could make a killing selling pure water. I'd have to start small at first but eventually I would be able to hire a merc crew to clean out the super duper mart, build a base, and expand my operations. Only I am allowed inside though at the beginning.

#5 Once I have enough caps, buy slaves from Paradise Falls to work in my Super Duper Mart operations. Swear the slaves to secrecy but leave their collars on until I am sure of their loyalty which i will gain by treating them well.

#6 Continue to build up my operation until I have enough of a merc army to clear out Paradise Falls to which I would move my operation.

#7 Continue expansion, killing all Outcasts to build up a good armory. While this is going on, training more people on the simple purification method.

#8 Begin training operations in Power Armor and military tactics.

#9 Move in on Little Lamplight, taking the kids and moving them into real families in Paradise Falls.

#10 Attack and destroy Raven Rock using the knowledge I have from the game to form military tactics.

#11 Develop Raven Rock into my own military base and exploit the technology contained within.

Plainly and simply, build a powerful army based on loyalty and decency and the desire to create a true, free state to rid the DC wasteland of Raiders, Enclave, and all others whose goal is subjugation and exploitation of its people. Once this is done, I will have Project Purity started. I would have to exploit people at first but eventually turn the capitol wasteland into a truly free state.

EDIT: With a proper radiation suit, disarming the Megaton nuke would not be as difficult as the game makes it seems to be. Nukes, after some research, do not have anti-tampering devices and even if you exploded a TNT bomb next to one, it would not go off. Hell, after 200 years, there's no way it would go off anyway. The delicate electronics needed to properly detonate a nuclear bomb would have corroded away or become useless over time anyway.

I like your vision.

However I do see a flaw in your inspired stratagem. It's simply that I think you neglected the likely beginning of your excursion, which would probably go something like this:

Start walking

Encounter a Deathclaw

Crap your pants

Die

So you'd think

But on my very first playthrough...admittedly not on the initial walk from 101 to megaton but only after a few moira quests and level ups, I was wandering exactly in the area between 101 and megaton and encountered my 1st deathclaw.

Besides that....my comments were strictly aimed at getting a cheap laugh....but thanks for lobbing a reality grenade at that

I'd do what I always do when I wake up in front of Vault 101.

Walk down to springvale- loot the mailboxes, safes, and cabinets.
Get drunk and high.
Go into silver's house and kill her. Take her caps and all her stuff. March on up to Megaton and rent a room from Nova.

From there, I probably have enough caps to live comfortably from a while. I'm not sure I could defuse the bomb, but I'd do my best to try to get a house in megaton.
It would be easy enough to survive by hunting mole rats outside of megaton. As long as I don't stray far from there I'd be fine.

I think my first reaction would be like WTF, get a sense of direction, realise where I am.

Id then leg it to Megaton, bare in mind you have no armor and no weapon so in reality a molerat could tear you a new one.

Id enter Megaton, where lucas simms would tell me to watch myself and that he'd keep an eye on me, as he's wary of strangers, id then ask is there anything I can do to help around here, he send me to Walter, who would tell me about the leaky pipes, and that hes a tad old to be chasing round after them, so he'd give me the tools and gets me to do it, to earn a bit of caps, id then do other random odd jobs for people.

Once I had enough Caps, id buy myself a gun of somesort and ammo for it, id then start to make small forages into the wasteland, never too far from megaton, and never out too long incase I get caught by slavers or raiders.

The first stop would be Springvale, where I'd scour each house's rubble for things of value, id then step into Silver's home, who would be point a .32 at your face, and be up all in your face, i'd convince her to give me some of her caps, and that I will forget I ever saw you, when her backs turned I rob her place of valuable supplies such as food and water, and first aid supplies.

Eventually, I'd of built a good reputation in Megaton, and then ask Lucas about the bomb, then spend the next few weeks to months, finding all the information I can about disarming old world nukes, and once I'm sure I could do it, I find Mr Burke and put a bullet between his eyes before He can put a contract out on me. Lucas Simms would "arrest" me for what seemed like a Murder, till he found the Fission Charge on Burke, where he would then release me, where then I would precede to disarm the bomb, and earn myself citizenry of Megaton and my own home.

On one of my many scavenging missions, I would eventually encounter the Brotherhood of Steel, and would try my upmost to join them, and from there, live the rest of my dads, as a member, trying to rid the wasteland of threats.

I would get to Megaton as fast as I could, trying to avoid any dangers. Then I would try to settle down there, find some job and make a life for myself. Perhaps, with time, I would try and increase my survival skills and - if I could afford - buy some better gear to explore and scavenge some. But probably I would stay as a tavern keeper, assistant to Moira or something.

It amazes me how many people would that easily go up to a person and shoot them and rob them. I don't know about you but if I was actually there and it was realistic I wouldn't have the heart to just walk up and kill and unarmed women and steal her money but maybe that's just me. You guys must be doing that all the time. :nuke:

I'll find someone from Enclave and tell I have an information about a serious threat from Brotherhood, so I must talk personaly to Colonel Autumn. If anybody starts asking me where I'm from and what can I know - I'll tell some specific knowledge (which simple wastelanders dont seem to have), meaning I'm not a simple bum.
When I meet Autumn I'll tell him about the plans of real Lone Wanderer and Brotherhood. To make him listen to me I'll tell that I know what he hides in the box near his bed, and that it's not a good deal, to prepare for killing the President. I'll tell that I know about his misunderstanding with Eden and that Eden is right. And where I'm from? I'll tell the truth - from the parallel world. How anyone could explain existence of a 25-year person without any aquaintance, pure-human and Russian??? How can be explained my deep knowledge of the history (including history of Enclave), top secret informantion (President-computer) and peculiarities of some people's life? He will have no other choice than to believe.
I won't tell their world is a game) Instead, I'll tell that I moved here to help Enclave not to repeat past mistakes. My task is to stop the inside conflict and save Enclave from complete destruction.

To explain the way how I moved to fallout-world I'll think lots of impressive baloney about my real world - I can be persuasive even with my poor English. (just too long to write it here))

I'll ask Autumn to send into the Brotherhood a good spy, who will re-program Liberty such way that he can be manipulated by radio-signals from Enclave. When BoS decides to use the robot, it will be turned hostile by remote command, kill BoS soldiers and go to the Enclave base. To my mind it's better to hijack Liberty than to kill. This robot can be useful in the future.
The spy can also try to kill most of the BoS members (maybe due to poisoned food, chemical or biological weapon). Or Citadel can just be bombed, as I did in game.

After the Brotherhood is defeated... I'll stay there (can I go back??, no.) Get a job with eyebots (I like them). Story of my real appearance will know only Autumn, for anybody else I'll invent someting less fantastic. Try to enchant Autumn (if he isn't married yet), anyway I'll try to be a good friend for him. Visit other cities? Or countries? I suppose that world is much more interesting than in the game...

I don't think that most of the folks saying they'd just go kill an innocent person and take their stuff would actually be able to do it. It's not easy to mentally take that step.

Besides that I don't think they could do it. You people were raised in a peaceful protected environment, while the people in this wasteland world have instincts you couldn't even dream of.

Yeah, you'd go to Silver's place with some intent and she'd riddle your ass with bullets before you could blink.

The real lone wanderer's story would be radically different from the one we play in the game....he/she comes from a vault...he/she would stand no chance of prolonged survival on the outside. Doesn't have the survival skills...doesn't have the instincts...just simply doesn't have what it takes to do much more than die a miserable death....and you'd basically stand about the same chances.

I beg to differ. I didn't grow up in an exactly 'safe' environment, so if it means living or dying, the junkie can die. I don't mind taking a few wrong turns to get to the destination, if you know what I mean.

It's fun to sit here and speculate about how you'd turn into some Wasteland bad[censored], but in reality, you'd probably get rabies from the first Molerat you encountered (if he didn't just maul you to death outright), and then you'd quickly suffer an especially nasty death.

A chimpanzee can weigh as much as a fully grown man, and is many times faster and stronger than one. If he had it in his mind to kill you, he'd probably have you ripped to shreds, or at least totally incapacitated, before you could even draw a weapon. And that's just a plain old chimp - what do you suppose a man-sized mutated rat could do to you? And that's one of the weakest creatures in the game - what the heck are you going to do with a scorpion the size of a small car and an armored shell bearing down on you?

And that doesn't even touch on the humans who have lived their entire lives around these beasts and managed to survive.

That's why I said "most" of the folks. I'm sure there are a small number here who would have a strong enough will to immediately start killing whoever....but again, even in those cases, saying you know you could kill generally innocent people and actually doing it is not the same thing. You might, but when that time actually comes, you might not.

But again the more relevant point is that no matter where you grew up in our world, it wouldn't remotely compare to the danger and extreme hazards of living in the fallout world. The people there were born there and have lived there long enough to survive to advlthood. I don't care where you're from or what your situation is, your fallout survival skills pale in comparison to theirs and so do your instincts. You simply wouldn't survive long, period....and that's without even considering the beasties you'd have to deal with.

I would go find a molerat, wait for it to run up, kick it in the face, then wrestle it to the ground and punch it in the face a lot, see how long it would take to die with my bare fists (i am being realistic, this would be like fighting a normal sized dog (not large like a rottweiler)
I would probably go to megaton, find something to do, realistically people die from 1 shot to the head, so Id kill moira and her bodyguard before anyone finds out, walk out casually with some good stuff. Id probably pray that no one suspects me, also.... Id go find lucy west and she'd ask me to deliver her note, and id ask for a little favor :woot:
then well.. id TRY to deliver the note, and that one dude would be like go check the houses, and id be like, what the [censored] are you telling me to do that for? im not the town sheriff lazy [censored]. And he'd kill me. End of Story

Though if he didnt, he'd go check and be like the Wests are dead, but Ian is missing, He was probably taken by the family, go find them in 1 of these 3 places.
And id be like "Dude, im not your errand boy, im not the worlds errand boy, cause im not the lone wanderer, do it yourself or dont do it at all" and leave. go to megaton and say I delivered the letter, get some more :woot: with lucy then she will yell at me for not calling back and ill be like there are no working phones. And she would say excuses excuses and Id walk away, and shed slap me or something and leave lol.

Honestly, I wouldn't expect I'd live too long so....I'd get to megaton...hang out for a bit...and then try to make it to dukov's place. If I made it I'd BS with him in russian, and he'd take me in like a brother. Then I'd just stay there getting wasted and sharing cherry and fantasia until something went down and we got killed.
