Thu'um outside the MQ?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2009 6:37 am

Do anyone know if you can learn the Dragon Shouts(Thu'um) outside the MQ or do we have to do a few quests?

And would you want to learn them(to use them, I know we can hunt dragon for their souls and that have some connection to the Thu'um) without doing the MQ?

I believe you can find Dragon Words in random dungeons. So in order to find certain Dragonshouts you'll have to do some exploring.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The information we have suggests you can learn some outside the main quest but I imagine we first gain the ability to read the walls or whatever as part of the mq.

You probably have to do a few quests before you can learn more than the force push one. Then you'll probably be free to get whichever ones you like.

To refrace my question:
Can we learn to use Thu'um at all before we visit the Greybeards?

I'm waiting for it to go down in price, because I'm a cheap bastard.

I have a slight derailing question.
A complete dragon shout consists of 3 words. If I understood correct there are around 20 shouts and each word is accquired from a particular dragon. So there will be atleast around 60 dragons ?

If yes, then I am quite sure it means one can obtain dragon shouts outside the main quest since killing sixty dragons just to proceed the MQ can be quite a chore in my opinion.

Some words are obtained on walls in dungeons apparently, also I think Mr. Howard said there were infinite dragons?

I doubt you need to gain all the shouts to finishing the MQ, also dragons are supposed to be infinite from what Todd's been sayin.

NOOOOOO the words are obtained from walls that can be found in dungeons and throughout other places in the world.

Yes, already confirmed there are an infinite number of dragons, as long as you keep playing, there will be more dragons spawning.

Do you learn a single word or the entire 3 word chain from defeating a dragon?
Also same for finding words, do you only find a piece of the total phrase or just the entire thing?

Killing a dragon gives you the ability to learn ONE word from a word wall. You usually find words one at a time but sometimes you might find several at the same time but they aren't necessarily to the same shout.

I'm guessing you have to do a few quests first... sorta like Power Armor training in FO3.
