Thunder and Rain

Post » Thu Sep 16, 2010 6:58 am

I have these amazing .wav clips for rain and thunder, but can't seem to make it happen. it is occurring to me that sound ID (morrowind .ini) and sound file name are not the same thing. How do I correctly "ID" these for morrowind?

Well, first check Data Files\Sound\Fx\envrn and see if you already have rain and thndr wav files, and compare those to yours for a good fit. If you don't have them, try unpacking the Morrowind bsa to get them. If you don't want to do that, these appear to be the files:

rain.wav
rainHVY.wav
thndr_cls.wav
thndr_cls2.wav
thndr_cls3.wav
thndr_far.wav
thndr_far2.wav
thndr_far.3wav

You make a sound object in the gameplay >> sounds menu. The .ini, script, dialog references the sound object.

Ok thanks, but could someone tell me which IDs (ie: Thunder0, Thunder7 etc.) are associated with what files so I can replace the correct four?

Actually I just found the info in some random readme. Thanks again guys.

Do you plan to release this as a mod for us to use?

You need to set IDs in an esp file as well as edit Morrowind.ini. See my Swiveller's Sounds mod for more instructions.
