I put that into google and nothing on the first two pages has anything about, which means the next million + one pages likely doesn't either.

Was talking to my wife about our trip to the lake we swam at yesterday, and I said I was glad we didn't pick up any ticks or anything, and she asked "Do ticks even crawl in the sand?" Which of course got me to wondering if they do or not.

So, does anyone here have a clue?

sand isn't their natural habitat. That'd be a forrest. That said, if you put a tick in sand, it'd crawl

Um hello silt striders in hammerfell anybody?! Lol but to be serious I dont think ticks crawl on burning sand all day and plus they would be sitting ducks with out foliage cover. But I know nothing of ticks Im not entirely sure if they can fly or not...

It depends on the species but as far as I know ticks are mostly live on the host like a Deer or rodent. But some might be in grass or in the bushes or in the trees and attach to new hosts there.

Dirt of the forest and sand of the beach are similar enough for ticks to crawl on sand.
