IB Timeline Discussion

Post » Wed Jan 05, 2011 5:03 pm

May i ask what this whole thing is actually about? it seem's very interesting.

Glad to garner your interest, its always nice having fresh talent join in on the fun. The Timeline is a series of Roleplays within their same unique universe. The concept is an overall plot with defined goalsl. The rest is up to the roleplayers. Everything from grand and epic battles by armies, to a few lone heroes traveling to recover/escape with an artifact, to a lone soldier's personal story, to stories of civilians. The innocent bystanders who witness miraculous and sometimes terrible events.

Assassins, lycanthropes, vampires, smugglers, and Paladins all find a role here, however minor it may seem, is actually taken into account and somehow connected to the storyline.

You can be whatever you like Varla, you need not be a soldier if the main setting is a war, its just a dramatic time to be living in, therefor your character could be anything you so choose and contribute in ways of sheer entertainment if you deemed it.

Alright OP is about to go up within the hour. Generals (Verlox, PFA, Darkdom, Blademaster) send me your army sheets as you would like it posted. Title the PM as "Nord Army" or "Anvil Army" etc and i'll edit it in. Keeping the OP fairly small. The writing/reading will be done in the RP itself.

Immortal. Do the rest of us that have approved sheets post those up with our first post? (My other ones are being worked on. They'll go in this thread for approval when done). For instance, I posted mine in the thread a few pages back.

Hold up, it's the third year? The end of it?

It does the heart good to see familiar characters returning. Especially Dexter on steroids.

^_^

Got to do a few work related things and I'll have something up later today.

If you're one of the "big four" or a returning character no.

Edit: I'll get to filling out the rest of the OP tomorrow afternoon.

I'll do my stuff later today.

Main Character Sheet

Name: Hequd Vhosek No-Shira
Race: Ra Gada (Sentinellian, Crown)
Age: 38
Birthsign: The Serpent

Physical Description: 5’9 feet tall, Hequd doesn’t look anything out of the ordinary, maybe except a slightly lighter skin tone compared to your average Raga. Though his physique suggests a warrior, he is a Ra Gada warrior – like most of his kinsmen, much of his strength lies not in pure muscles but in agility, thus his frame is not particularly imposing. He has a slight limp to his step, dampening the unmistakeable grace of a Raga swordsman with which he once moved; one shouldn’t presume that he’s not a dangerous opponent because of this, however.

The Crown’s face is not too welcoming. His eyes, dark brown in colour, are a bit smaller than average. Above them are his thick, straight eyebrows. Hequd’s nose is on the large side, slightly bent to the side towards the tip; below it is a wisp of a moustache and below that – thin lips. There is a small scar on the left tip of his mouth, running over both lips. Though it is not often seen due to his turban, he’s completely bald.

History: Hequd was born in 3E 398 into the Vhosek house of Sentinel. He spent his youth in Sentinel, training in the skills appropriate for a Crown. Though he was never sent to the Halls of the Virtue of War, he still became a fine swordsman, as befitting for any Raga warrior. However, he found he could not stay in the city for long; after reaching maturity, he set out with a small band of men, travelling the northern fringes of the Alik’r and the Dragontail mountains for five years.

After returning to the city, Hequd couldn’t find a place for himself; though he didn’t bring shame to his family, many thought him too grim and reserved for a young man. His father encouraged him to find a suitable bride to bring honour and prosperity to Hequd’s household, however instead the young Crown set out, this time southwards, travelling as far as Taneth. He saw for himself what the Imperials had brought upon Hammerfell and that many abandoned the ancient ways to curry favour with the outlanders. When he returned to Sentinel after three years, he could not live in the city anymore, instead settling in his deceased father’s estate not too far from it.

When the Oblivion Crisis struck, Hequd joined the Sentinel military. He stayed in it through the brief period of uneasy peace after the Crisis and fought in the War of the Wolves, carving a place out for himself there and in the later campaigns of High King Haroun. Recently he has been granted the highly prestigious rank of General of the South Army, placing him in charge of the military of the southern portion of Sentinel.

Weapons: Hequd’s armament is fairly simple. He carries a http://www.foodclassics.com/store/images/170457035134/, about as tall as him. However, he favours swordsmanship, carrying a http://www.oriental-arms.co.il/photos/items/08/001208/ph-0.jpg with which he fights on most occasions.
Armor/Clothing: Hequd’s outfit is not particularly lavish, though it does show he is a man of some wealth. He wears a dark blue silk shirt and slightly puffed white pants in the way of simple clothing. Over the shirt, he wears another one, only this one of chainmail, extending to his elbows. Over that, he wears a http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b5/Hara-ate_dou.JPG, decorated with the http://images.uesp.net//6/68/DF-Sentinel_Crest.png. For further protection of his arms, he wears leather bracelets, with plates of lacquered iron sewn in. He wears greaves of such a construction as well, almost knee-high and usually wears simple leather sandals. Though he wears no helmet, one won’t frequently see him without his blue silk turban.

Misc. Items: A fairly short silver chain that he keeps tied around his left upper hand. Attached to it is a small sword, also of silver. It is his way of showing thanks to Onsi. He also has a mask, as required of a general. His is made of steel and highly reminiscent of old Yoku styles; it’s also very plain with no features, not even a nose or mouth (although the gap between the upper and lower pieces creates the appearance of a large mouth). The mask isn’t a single piece, instead consisting of several parts.

The main part is a simple piece that covers most of his face – his brow, eyes, nose (except for nostrils) and most of his cheeks. There is some space left in between his face and the mask, allowing it to cover his nose without deviating from being a smooth surface. His nose’s tip, however, touches upon the mask. The main piece’s bottom is a crescent, going from his jaw to his nose to his other jaw.

Two large holes are left for his eyes, encompassing not only them but also his eyebrows and a small area under his eyes. There, two half-orbs are fitted in, with two narrow slits going sideways through which Hequd sees.

The final piece of his mask is a smaller one that covers the lower part of his face – his moustache, lips and chin. Unlike the upper piece, it is fitted very well to his face (leaving a small gap between this piece and the upper one through which he can breathe as his nostrils remain mostly unobstructed) though still having no features on it like the rest of his mask. This piece can be lowered when he wants to speak and raised again afterwards.

Companions: Shahal, 23 years old Ra Gada Crown male, Hequd’s servant. Though young, Shahal isn’t entirely inexperienced, having fought beside Hequd for a little more than a year now. The young Raga is a noble from Sentinel and thus not exactly an ordinary servant, however the Crown general doesn’t give him much special treatment, not something Shahal protests – when he began serving under a more experienced warrior, he wished to see the world as it was. Rather adventurous and rash, if left to his own devices he frequently gets into trouble, however military life is beginning to take its toll on the young man’s energy, tempering the desire to act with experience.

I'm thinking about bringing old Arethan back, my Dunmer mage that I created in High Rock. Might bring him in the right place at the right time.

Apparently my generals and adviser characters need masks for cultural purposes, from what PFA has told me. I'll repost an edited version of the sheet with the mask detailed in it.

Name: Mehmet Sa’ Kalim

Race: Ra Gada

Age: 54

Gender: Male

Birthsign: The Ritual

Physical Appearance:

Mohammed is darker than the average Redguard, showing more of a blackish tint to his skin. His eyes are even darker, being almost black as well. His head in general is longer and used to be more muscular, but has recently grown skinnier and more feeble-looking as his age has grown. He stands at about 5’11, slightly taller than the average man. One can tell from his body that he was once a great athlete with great muscle composition. Though his body still has the same lean form, one can tell he has decayed to a degree because of the aging process. He keeps his head shaved completely, and his slight strap-like facial hair, which is beginning to grow gray, fits well with his face despite his slight wrinkles. He has a few rugged scars on his arms, as well as a crescent moon tattoo on his right arm. His dark skin does somewhat of a good job to help the aging process.

Apparel (clothing and armor):

He always wears a steel lamellar cuirass when on the campaign trail, along with dark brown leather shoulder pads that match his armor. The cuirass covers none of his joints; therefore it does not hinder his mobility to a great extent when he is wearing it. On top of not hindering his mobility, it provides him great protection and does its job well, due to the material of which it is composed. He usually does not wear a helmet, unless he is in battle. In that event, he wears a round leather helmet with a respective neck guard. His legs are guarded by light leather padding in the front, which show leather-like flaps on the sides. These sides are tied down during the battle, protecting the muscles in his legs along with his femur. These are accompanied by hardened leather knee caps to give his joints protection. All of his leather pads on his legs are accompanied by a thin layer of iron above them. His shin guards are also of a different variety than his cuirass. Light enough to give him mobility; they also boast a thin sheet of iron on top of respective leather padding. To finish off, he protects his feet with leather boots, which are made to be comfortable and easy to walk in from the inside, soothing his old feet. To protect his arms, leather strap pads are applied to his arms right below his shoulder pads, along with respective elbow pads formed from hardened leather used to protect his important joints. The leather padding on his arms, like those on his legs, is accompanied by the same leather of iron plate. Below his joint guards, his wrist is guarded by a leather bracer topped with a thin layer of iron. He wears padded leather gloves over his hands and fingers, doing their best to limit his scratches. They also help his grip and his ability to hold his weapon. He carries a wooden round shield of about average size to accompany his armor. Its holding strap is padded with leather, and it’s front consisting of a layer of steel. When Mehmet is not in combat, the shield rests on his back, as it does have a leather clip strap. This strap, when not in use, is placed on Mehmet’s leather belt, which wraps around his waist below his cuirass. As far as his apparel goes, he likes to stay light do to the heat of Hammerfell. His clothing consists of a comfortable tan linen shirt, along with a pair of pants of the same variety.

Weapons:

Mehmet carries a scimitar as his primary weapon. The blade is a little less than 30 inches long, and is serrated along the bottom. It is comprised of steel, sitting on a hilt of the same metal padded with leather. The blade contains no fuller, and is topped with a sharp tip. The guard is comprised of iron, slightly curving down on the front side to open up the serrated part at the bottom. The guard slightly curves up at the back, giving the blade more impact support against other weapons and blows from its holder’s foe. The guard shows an engraving in the metal. This engraving is a consisted of several scarabs, which swirls through the guard’s curls. The scimitar’s bottom is made of steel as well, spreading out slightly to form the pommel of the blade. The pommel shows a crescent moon engraved into the bottom of its hilt. When mounted, Mehmet carries a spear which rests on his back behind his shield. Its head is made of steel, and the end of the spear is capped with an iron metal. The same moon on the sword’s pummel is shown engraved into the spear’s end. His only other weapon is a small iron dagger tied to his belt, which other than the same moon, features nothing of exception.

Misc:

While in camp, Mehmet usually carries a small leather sack consisting of a canteen of water. This canteen is made of iron, which gives it structure to hold the water. The iron is padded with hardened leather, which helps it to not receive too much heat from the sun, despite his efforts to cover it. He also keeps food in this bag, which usually consists of fruit that he brings along, but can consist of other foods he finds. He packs a small rock in this bag as well, which is used to sharpen his sword and spear. He carries some flint, which he uses to light his fire in the camp. He carries an additional spearhead on his belt. Other than these possessions, he carries nothing else but a rag which is tied to his belt in its own small leather bag. Any other important things he would use are those that are carried on wagons, such as tents. He does, however, wear a mask, which is required by Redguard generals. The mask contains four plates: one above his nose, one on each side of his face on either side of his nose, as well as one equipped to his chin. The mask is made of thin steel, bearing a thin cloth on the interior of itself. Each piece is strapped to his head by leather, as well as connected to each other by putting leather through small holes in the side of the pieces. The piece above his nose shows two sockets cut out for his eyes to see through. The mask is comfortable, and does not hinder breathing or vision. The most important thing to the Redguards is its symbolism. It features a faded red color as its main dressing, while a brown crest fits on the right side of Mehmet’s face (his left), making its mark on three of the mask’s pieces. The remaining untouched side piece features a black scarab stained upon it, symbolizing Mehmet’s homeland of Totambu.

Misc Info:

Despite Mehmet’s aging, he still has a strong skill in swordsmanship. Though he can still very much fight, he prefers not to. He does most of his work through command, rather than personal confrontation. Mehmet really likes graqes, as they are usually the fruit packed in his bag. He can be found eating them even in times of worry.

Psychological Profile:

Mehmet, even through his past experiences of war and the battlefield, is still very much a quiet person. He can have a good laugh every once in a while, but he takes most things seriously. He is nice to most people, and isn’t easily angered. When his enemy surrenders, he treats him as his family. He treats his soldiers as his family as well, and gets very angry towards those who put his soldiers through hardship. This causes him to despise his enemies that continuously battle with his soldiers, even to the point of lifting his common mercy from them. Mehmet’s most important trait is his selflessness. In times of hardship, he will give up his own things and benefits for the rest of his soldiers. He considers himself even with the youngest soldier. For this, the better part of his men’s respect him and are willing to follow his command even in the face of death. Despite his mercy and kindness, he is very disciplined with his men, and often goes to a far extent of encouraging them not to slack off or be disorderly.

History/Bio:

Grew up in Totambu as a young boy. His father was a warrior in the Knights of the Scarab, and taught him not only swordsmanship at a young age, but more importantly wisdom and the battlefield from a strategic and tactical viewpoint. He was the oldest of his three siblings. At the age of 22, he married his wife, Layla, who would bare him two sons. His old man taught him that every Empire only lasted so long, and that if he did not go to war in his time, then he would have to teach his sons, for they might have to go to war in their time. Unfortunately for him, his two brothers and lone sister, along with his two sons and his wife, they all had to go to war at the end of the Septim Empire. Born as crown Redguards, Mehmet went to war under the name of Sentinel. After the first Imperial invasion, Mehmet gained a position in Haroun’s army for his experience as an officer in the first invasion. He knew the war was not over and now he and his two brothers, along with his two sons, will continue to serve in Sentinel’s army and attempt to silence this new meddler that Anvil has made itself to be.

Companions/Officers:

Name: Stargel
Nickname: Star
Gender: Male
Race: Redguard
Age: 29

Physical Appearance: Star, as he is called, stands at about 5'6 ans weighs about 178 lbs. This doesn't necessarily mean he is heavy-set, but he has a good physique. It seems to him that he is constantly running, and thus it has earned him what is called a runner's build, enabling him to run long distances non stop. His black hair is tied up into braid-like rows going down the scalp of his head, and then tied together at the back end in a quick ponytail. His eyes are a golden-hazel, rather large some might say, and he has a slim nose and slight mouth. He has a narrow face and a high jawbone.

Class: Scout

Clothing: Tight cotton shirt, loose cotton pants. Clothing varies as does it with everyone.
Accessories: Notebook, quill, ink. Various bow strings, arrow shafts, fletchings, arrow heads, etc.

Armor: None. The armor, basically, is a thick layer of mud then rolled around in a thick brush of grass. The grass then sticks to them, making a camouflage. The environment of the place being scouted will be traveled to, grass be taken from there (a good deal of it), and then taken back for camouflage.
Weapon: Yew composite bow. Arrows vary as they are crafted in the field according to the situation. 10 Bronze-tipped, Willow arrows for emergency situations.

Personality: Quiet and dutiful are the two words that best describe Star. He doesn't often say much in the way of small-talk or light conversation, but he has been known to talk to someone about something that has struck his interest. He holds his duty above all else (and I know what you're thinking: wow, this is cliche). Everything that doesn't relate to duty will be stockpiled in a group named "Other", and stored away until duty allows time to deal with it. Star, however, is very thoughtful. Is that why he is quiet? Some say that. He is very noticing of his environments, and is always trying to notice things that aren't meant to be noticed. That's why he's a good scout.

History: Born and raised in Sentinel to a lower-class (yet wealthy, as class back then - at least I assume - had to do with occupation) merchant. Mother was no where to be found, and Stargel would rather have it that way. Women, he saw when he was a kid, just got in the way of what needed to be done. He was much like his father, but his father wasn't quiet. He guessed he adopted that trait from the mother's side. Even so, his father could afford a good school, and Stargel was able to receive a good education. Friends, he saw, were hard to make if you were quiet. It seems everyone wanted to be friends with the goof or the BA, and he was neither. He would sit in class, thoughtful, and complete assignments. He didn't think he would ever use this, and he was right to some degree.

Finding life a bore, he joined the Hammerfell army at the age of 16, taking an active roll in later wars. He found the army of Hammerfell to be something loose, at least to his standards, and founded a scouting group that was regarded as Mercernaries until it denounced such accusations and became a part of the Ra Gada forces. Through the ages, he has seen people come in, grow, die. It's a cycle, he noticed, a circle. Life is a circle: One will join, take his trip around the circle, die, and be replaced by some other no-nonsense dude who was never big enough to be a front-lines soldier.

Star seemed to live his life by this. Circle of Life. Like the Lion King.

Troops/Army/Companions:

Companions will be introduced as time goes on. I won't have this up until times of war, but if you follow my character, you should have no trouble keeping up with his companions.

Name: Alejah Montblanc
Age: 28
Race: Ra Gada
Occupation: Agent
Faction: Kingdom of Hammerfell, Shagun. Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Appearance: 6'0, Dark chocolate skin hue, light brown eyes, and a thin, trimmed mustache. The Minister Montblanc keeps his hair braided in stylish rows and has an unassuming, lithe build. He is often found sporting Cyrodillian style tailoring, choosing to simply wear a puffed sleeve cotton shirt and Green waistcoat when in his own offices. When out he will normally dress formal, as he is often the highest ranked representative of Hammerfell in the area.

Armor: None
Weapon: A baton sized object is usually hidden within the man's coat, retracting into a full length spear. A memento from his days as a hero. The weapon sports no design or engraving, yet is elegant in its simplicity. The spear is silver and coated in a poison designed to fatigue those it strikes to extreme exhaustion.

Random Items: Yokudan Mask of the Minister- This mask is black and gold, with silver engraving in swirls. The eyes are made of emerald, and cut into ovals. Montblanc's mask has vampiric fangs made of glass that curl from the mask's silver mouth. To Ra Gada, the mask shows he believes in strength of character and walking boldly.

Forebear Mask- A stone mask with nose slits and large slits for the eyes to view. The mask is simple, but holds a lot of sentimental value and history of Hammerfell.

Biography: Montblanc was born in the small village of Dragongate, the son from a Forebear family of warriors. His father died in battlefield early against Skyrim raiding parties, which forced his family to fend for themselves. The mother joined the temple of Morwah, where she gave into religious prostitution to help support her children. While his brothers joined the Navy, Alejah and his younger sister saught a more prosperous life.

Traveling to Sentinel, his young sister fell in love with the theater and the bizarre plays and acts the City was so famous for. She had made her mind on it, and saught a career as a playwright. Supporting her older brother until he could find his way on his feet, the boy was overflowed with guilt. He had failed at his career as a dock worker, blacksmith apprentice, and as a street peddler. The young man left the city to experience the world and gain a fortune as an Adventurer.

Traveling High Rock, and the Ilac he had delved many dungeons, sailed the sea, and learned many languages. Eventually he joined a party of heroes during the oblivion crisis and gained a name for himself in Hammerfell.

His sister growing ill during the crisis had kept him grounded in Sentinel, and his fortune was spent on a home for her, along with servants to tend to her. His reliability was noticied both by the Government and the criminal elements of the city. Choosing the safer option, he joined the Government, first working for the Prince of the time as one of his Secret Police, the Shagun. His responsibility skysoared when the Last War of the Wolves began, his blade finding many a throat.

Years later, he finds himself with an Office in Roseguard serving as a representative for his country's interest. The current change of events however, leaves him between a rock and a hard place.

Let's get rolling. Is Darkom going to do any unit descriptions for his Elves?

Looks like the Nordic effect has taken into action once more. Now its time for PFA to start boasting about how popular he is and all that. Hehe.

Is it obvious that I just hate character sheets? As normal I'll flesh it all out as the RP progresses. ;)

Name: Petrus DeTorroja, Vescomte de Atrene
Race: Imperial Colovian
Age: 28
Gender: Male

Physical Appearance:
Petrus is short and thin with wide blue eyes and dark brown hair.

Apparel:
He normally wears the fine clothing befitting his station, though there is normally no one article he prefers. Most of his fashion choices rely heavily on his state of mind and awareness at the time that he gets dressed.

Weapons: None

Misc:
Suffering from advanced Neurosyphilis, the young vescomte twitches occasionally and is prone to Dementia and drastic mood swings. Petrus' younger brother Alonso is simply waiting patiently for him to die so he can assume the families power and undo all that Petrus had worked on. Before the syphilis spread to his brain the boy was quick witted and intelligent, taking up and soon mastering most subjects brought before him. He could speak near fluent Yoku, and Aldmeri though his skills in both languages have faltered considerably.

Yeah to be honest the sheets are optional for the veterans here. I don't think i'll even bother this time around with my two characters. I should do a list of characters for each player though. If someone wants to write one up i'll edit it in.

Hey Immortal. Is Serosi going to be in this one?

I'm almost done with Ruhk (Haroun's relative) and his friend/advisor. Should be up soon. For my major characters, I just like to do sheets for them in the timeline. Once I do the sheet, they are organized and any thing developed into their story through the roleplays can be put into the sheet after the current roleplay to be described in the next one. It helps people that are newer get a good vision of your character as well, since they haven't been in the past roleplays. Even many of us, including me, weren't in Siege of Sentinel.

And, well, sure Immortal. If you want, I could do it when I have time Thursday. Or you could have people send their own character write ups in. That would be easier.

I would like to join, so here is my guy;

Name: Titus Flaccus

Rank: Ex Legion Agent. Currently posting as a mercenary

Race: Imperial

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Birthsign: The Lord

Class: Ranger

Skills: Marksman, Illusion, Sneak, Short Blade, Unarmored, Athletics, Mysticism

Physical Appearance: Titus stands around 5'10'' on a good day. His hair is black like most Imperials and wears it at a medium length. Titus is very lean and muscular, one could say that he has less the seven percent body fat. Titus' skin is tanned, but not as tan as most Imperials because his choice of apparel covers most of his body. http://img13.imageshack.us/i/screenshot8ld.png/

Apparel (clothing and armor): Titus wears no armor but instead wears a cotton loose fitting bodysuit that is covered by the foliage of the area he is working in. This item is known as a gillie suit. When in clothing he wears whatever he has available.

Weapons: Titus carries a Yew crossbow that is fitted with a glass tube that helps him aim. He carries fifteen yew bolts in a hip quiver and five steel bolts strapped to his chest. Titus also carries an iron short sword.

Misc: Titus carries an iron dagger and iron hatchet for survival means (skinning, wood cutting, fire/shelter building) and will only use these tools in combat as a last resort.

Misc Info: Titus carries a bag with 25 gold for bribe money. Titus has spent years in the wilderness and has become an expert in survival and has a true understanding of the land of Cyrodiil.

Psychological Profile: Titus is a calm and collective person and is able to stay relaxed under pressure. Some believe that Titus is a cold-hearted person because when he was in the Imperial Legion as a sniper, troops would ask his what it felt like to kill someone while seemingly invisible. His answer was, "Nothing" this was the truth, for when a crossbow is fired there is not
any recoil. Titus views his old position in the Legion as a job and nothing more. Titus left the Legion five years ago to peruse is own work and spends most of his time alone or with his friend, Marcus. The two have developed a Schizoid Personality.

History/Bio: Titus was born in Layawiin to Caepio and Marian Falccus. Arius was a hunter and taught Titus how to use a bow. The two would go out on a hunt and be gone for a few days before returning. Titus loved spending this time with his father and his skills today reflex this time spent. At the age of sixteen Titus wanted to join the Legion after a recruiter arrived in Layawiin. After a long winded conversation Caepio and Marian finally agreed let their son join up. Titus signed on to a four year deal and traveled to the Imperial City to start his training.

Titus demonstrated his abilities with a bow to the Legion recruitment officers and received high marks. It was not until a field exercise where Titus was already roasting a rabbit over a fire before anyone else had even started their fire that the Legion realized what they had found. It was at this moment that Titus was removed from the normal Legion training and boot camp and put into special forces. The Legion was determined to mold the teen into a killing force, and they succeeded.

It was at the rigorous training to become a Imperial Legion Ranger that he was introduced to the crossbow. After Titus passed the Ranger course he joined a group of advanced marksman and was assigned to "peace keeping" mission in Black Marsh.

Titus now travels around Cyrodiil keeping to himself and helping the occasional passerby, but this expansion into Cyrodiil interests him. Perhaps if the pay is right he will join this invading force.

I can't help but feel that the sheet is a bit too 'modernized.' Sniper school?

Perhaps being taken in under the wings of a special group of rangers known for their marksmanship. I think that would work much more better.
