IB Timeline Discussion Thread

I'm writing a forward and setting the background/setting to the RP. Going to detail that each side has been basically staring each other down for a few weeks and the siege attack is about to commence. What else is needed?

Yeah I hope we're more enthusiastic about this soon. I'll be back from my trip sunday or so and I can get the thread up then if everyone has the other things done.

I also have a plot idea for Cyrodiil. It's sort of based on the old Roman Republic Consul idea where you'd have two rulers along with a senate. That would be the proposed idea by the Elder council and the two consuls would be Elysana and Helseth. We could focus initially on the political side of things, cloak and dagger, character development and then we can see how the new government style holds up to a bit of external threat or possibly even a civil war.

Will we ever have a timeline RP that's just based from internal lore? I like the stuff so far but drawing too much from outside sources has kind of ruined a few of the TES races for me in the timeline. Your RP sounds good IB, but I'm just dreading some provinces.

How do you mean drawing "Just based" from internal lore?

Well it seems that every culture we encounter draws from more influences from the real world with every iteration of the timeline, the Redguards for example seem to drift further and further from the TES lore with each RP. I don't mind it so much but I'm worried that its getting to the point where instead of too many chef's spoiling the broth, too many ingredients might be spoiling the taste.

Well, the cultures in TES are based somewhat off the cultures in the real world...nothing is original.

Yes, I know that. But there's a point when something stops being based off a culture and becomes a clone of it instead. For example, Skyrims culture is so close to Norse and Viking cultures there would be little point in drawing anymore outside influences, but the Dunmeri culture is so mixed and diversely drawn upon from outside source that to tamper with it would ruin it, in my eyes.

Not for me, every once in a while I like to make completely weird and random things up for the Ra Gada.

Besides fleshing out things like Tribes, the Government and culture is based off of what they had already shared with us in Redguard lore. Old Yokudan Government was always Elden Yokeda ruling over the Yokeda who were his vassals. I think so far we've done a great job at keeping Redguard culture bizarre and true enough to its original designs, even when we had to fill in where there was no information before. Besides that I don't think there was really too much of specific cultures used to influence anything.

And I do agree with you on the subject of basing things solely off of real life history. Its no secret the majority of IBT members are fans of history and it really shows to the point where exact scenarios from history are often used for plot inspirations. I still feel its not impossible to just make things up using your own creativity or branching off established TES lore instead. However I do feel its too far in the Timeline to use only TES lore and not events from the timeline if that was what you originally suggested.

I wasn't suggesting we change anything established, but I am hoping that we tone down the outside influences some what in any RP's to follow. Personally, I didn't really study anything other than medieval England/Guy Fawkes/Oliver Cromwell/Henry the 8th and his protestant homeboys in school and high school, after that it was all WWI and WWII. I've never had a personal interest in studying History as a hobby, so for some one like me, the stuff in the Timeline can be very very hard to follow which leads to me having to read countless wikepedia articles just to keep up, which stops me being productive in terms of posting.

Which is the entire reason I opted to RP as the Knight Commander, because the British Crusades where about the only thing I do remember studying from History.

But my experience with Asian/Chinese and Mongolian warfare? Yeah, I played Dynasty warriors one two and three, that's about it.

I'm sure a few other members have the same issues, and I can't help but think that sometimes (don't call me out on this one though, I'm not saying always) that the reason we get alot of Side story arcs and mini adventures within the RP is that alot of people don't understand what's happening in the main RP on a cultural/historical/warfare level. Maybe I'm wrong, as I said it's just a suspicion.

There really isn't even that much "Asian" and "Mongolian" warfare as much as there is stuff outside of the British Isles. And the Redguards are pretty similar to their lore. More expanded on but that's about it.

Nice man!

And sorry for not being here as well. I've been slammed so much school work and so many projects that my brain has been reduced to a a smoldering pile of goop. :shocking:

It's amazing man, freakin beautiful: Two stories, corner lot, three bedrooms two and a half baths, working fire place, front and back porch and all for $89,000. The Housing Authority will even pay the closing costs. leaving us with a need of only four grand for a down payment and a max monthly payment of about seven hundred a month, which includes our taxs, morgage and homeowners insurance. The only thing keeping us back is my credit, or lack there of really, but the bank gave me some pointers that would get my score up high enough for the loan by the time I get back from my honeymoon.

That would set you back almost a million bucks here in British Columbia.

Edit: probably half a million

What the hell is this? I wrote up this RP a long time ago. Someone just took it and put it on here or is this some sort of archive forum?

Edit: I'm confused...

It's a fake forum that copies posts from the BSGF and posts it under randomly created accounts using similar avatars and random names to pass off as a real forum. It used to be called GameFallout.com. From what I've heard, they won't let anyone real register on that forum.
