Times that Bind
Forty years after the defeat of the Enclave and all is well in the wastes; at least as well as things can get. The Enclave have made no reappearance, the Brotherhood is expanding it's ever more powerful influence farther and farther away from the Citadel, raider attacks have dropped, the slavers have been bottled up in and around Paradise Falls, and the super mutants have been nearly wiped clean from D.C.
The Brotherhood of Steel marches across the wastes, purging all resistance, to the cheering of the people they save along the way. The orders of the West Coast have long since been forgotten, and the Knights and Paladins revel in their glory. With the Lone Wanderer having obtained a senior position in the Brotherhood, and Sarah Lyons taking over for her father, the future looks brighter than ever for the common wastelander.
Then, in the year 2307, as the Brotherhood was laying plans to purge the Pitt, they came from the north. The government of Ronto finally snapped in two, leaving in wide open for a young and ambitious leader of her armies to take command. Ronto had been largely unaffected by the nuclear attack itself. What did affect it was the destruction of everyone around them. They were forced to survive on their own in the frigid wastes of post-apocalyptic Canada. Having no Vaults in Canada, as it wasn't deemed important enough by the US government, the people there were forced to make due with what they had.
Nearly a hundred years later, Ronto resurfaced for unknown reasons as a regional power. All traces of the former rampant mutation had disappeared, and they took over many of the surrounding areas, building a power base that no one could pierce. Several skirmishes with US cities later, and they went dormant, fearing the arrival of the Brotherhood of Steel. They didn't want to attract their attention just yet.
But they were biding their time, and their military grew, and rumors spread. People in the Pitt knew. They could sense it. Ronto was the most powerful city on the East Coast. They would sweep down and annihilate them. Then The Lone Wanderer came and they were distracted. No one thought of Ronto while the floor fell out from under them.
And so Ronto continued to grow. They kept the region tightly sealed off, and all scouts, whether they came from the Enclave, Brotherhood of Steel, or the Pitt, did not return. The ruling council there kept things under control with martial might, but thirty-nine years after the defeat of the Enclave, they were all killed en masse by General Arthur Maxwell.
The army of Ronto poured out of their territory, which now spanned all of eastern Canada and most of the area north of Philadelphia, aside from the Institute, which was independent due to it's vastly superior technology. They quickly overran the smaller settlements, but the cities of Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh put up what resistance they could. Most were no more than raiders, however, and if not for the interference of the Brotherhood, they would have been swept aside like so much trash. The battle has been raging for a week now, and already the Brotherhood is close to being overwhelmed. After a request to Sarah Lyons from the commander of the front, the order went out.
A call to arms was to be made. All able people were requested to meet at the Train Tunnel to the Pitt, where they would be personally met by the Lone Wanderer. They would be led through the tunnel to the Pitt, where they would do all they could to hold the city. Meanwhile, the main force of the Brotherhood would be deployed to Philadelphia, while the reserves were sent to Harrisburg. All of the Brotherhood in the Wastes were gathered on the line. They would stop Ronto's rampage, because if they didn't, they would sweep through D.C. and leave nothing but ashes in their wake.
Where you come in: You will be one of the people gathering at the Train Tunnel to meet with the Lone Wanderer, who will be controlled by me. You can be anyone from any walk of life, aside from the Enclave or Brotherhood. Raider, slaver, Talon Merc, whatever. They all still exist, just in smaller numbers, and EVERYONE has been given the call. If you want to be Brotherhood, you can wait till the army reaches the Pitt. Then you can control one of the soldiers already stationed there.
I want only good writers for this, kay? I'm not going to bother listing rules, because you all should know them by now. Also, you can create however many characters you think you can handle. Just don't expect all of them to come out alive if you make more than one.
And yeah, for the beginning, this will take place in the Pitt. After that, we may move up north. It depends on whether people stay with it or drop out like I've seen happen so often. Anyway, comments, suggestions, character sheets? I'm up for all three.
