tiny details

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:28 am

here's one thats always bugged me not being in most rpg's...

how about an animation that goes along with eating food, drinking a potion/beverage, or just something as silly as snorting moon sugar

i know it wouldn't really effect the core gameplay, but its the little details in my opinion that have made the elder scrolls series great.
and if it got annoying or its not your thing, maybe you can simply turn off the animation just like turning on and off the death animations in fallout new vegas.

weapons making sense for their materials (glass would not make good blunt weapons)

get a friend, have them take a crystal ball, hell a snow globe would work. now let them hit you with it, which one will break first you or the ball of glass.

Indeed. Given the thumping a real-world glass sphere could give you, just imagine what magical fantasy non-chipping glass that can be forged into blades could do if used in mace fashion. Makes less sense, either setting, as swords and knives.

Glass would make fantastic blunt weapons.

Here's a detail: How about the running animations for 3rd person look legit? I'm tired of seeing a characters feet move back and forth as they slide diagonally and side-to-side across the landscape...

Great Poll!

I only miss a spells section.
Only do not try to make a suggestions thread out of it, otherwise the bear might not tolerate it ;)

but glass is meant to be very, very light so that any swing from a blunt weapon is no more effective than a hard knuckleduster.although it may still be ok for blunt weapons, it would be so good for blades they probably wouldn't make blunt weapons

Now smack it against a steal broadsword and see which breaks first.

It’s a small on-screen menu “wheel” that most games with companions use to easily access their inventories or give basic commands on the fly, so you don't have to open your menu and scroll through a bunch of stuff every time you just want them to wait or something.

I can't really remember, but isn't glass which weapons and armor are made out of supposed to be tougher than, you know, normal glass? Since I was unsure, I voted both light / heavy glass weapons. Ebony weapons are rare and special, they should ignore normal weapon resistance.
I don't particularly care for werewolves or werebears, but I like enemy variety, and seeing as werebears are mentioned in lore, they should be included. I'm not loving the idea of clans, though.
A couple of versions of the same armor make sense. I would love to be able to combine different armor pieces, as well as wear clothing over / under the armor where suitable.
Drug effects are unnecessary. Spears and crossbows - sure, why not?
Different piercing / ear sets, like in MW, shouldn't be hard to implement and would make for a bit more customization, but, like tattoos, could easily be added by mods, just as hair could, but I think more variety in hairstyles should be included. I don't care for different teeth.
Khajiit and Argonians should have beastly legs, but should also be able to wear some type of boots.
Different voices for the same race - this would require more money, but there are good cheap voice actors out there, so perhaps this wouldn't be too much to ask, voted yes. I don't care if there are sub-races or not, so long as there is variety between individual NPCs and they look more like in MW.
I like the skeleton idea as well magic influencing the surroundings. I haven't played Mirror's Edge, but acrobatics in AC worked great.
I think different types of creatures should fight differently, so that you need to use different methods to take them down. I don't see the point in walking along the bottom of the water, except maybe for crabs. Some creatures should avoid the water completely. Sea dreughs - yes, land dreughs - no. I'm fine with animal nudity.
Voted yes for the companion wheel. I would love to see hand to hand expanded, as I barely used it in previous games. I don't care for busks. Mounted combat would be good.
Not sure if I care about diseases. There should be penalties to attributes / skills depending on injury, though.
I want throwing knives / spears. Not sure about grenades, don't use them personally.
I think medium armor could be made by combining heavy and light armor parts. Unarmored is useless.
Mass Effect and Dragon Age really spoiled me in terms of companion development, so I think they should be more complex and likable. No permanently summonable companions. I liked how enemies reacted in Arkham Asylum, something similar / better would be great. In fact, different enemy reactions would help a lot in making the player feel powerful / helpless.
I'm not sure how lockpicking was handled in Fallout 3, but I enjoyed picking locks in OB.
If you have a bounty, only guards in the area / city where the crime was committed should immediately recognize you.
I would not be bothered if all daedra would be summoned the same way.
I like the idea of trainers sending you on quests that would help you learn a new skill, as opposed to just standing around, like in MW.

I don't like how people prefer Oblivion's lock pick over Fallout's. Both are easy but Oblivion's are far more annoying.

I don't like how people like any player-skill-based lockpicking minigame.

Great poll...took a while to finish though :P

Great idea for receiving tatoos, had never thought of that option but makes perfect sense since even nowadays certain gangs, for example, have custom tatoos.

Let's look at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Mace#Maces based on their materials.

Yeah...so "very, very light" that only Ebony and Daedric weigh more.

Crossbows, however, should not be.

* Walking into someone's house doesn't invoke a 'oh hey... stranger... make yourself welcome' response.

* Bodies should be taken away by guards/security as opposed to just being left there to rot. (this would mean if you kill someone for something and can't grab it, you then have to break into a morgue to get it)

* Not every creature should have rabies. Some rats will attack you when you're close to them, but most would run away. There should be a passive - Aggressive slider randomly assigned to enemies.

-dismemberments from sword or axe blades possible, but not from daggers, spears or arrows

And I like the idea of e.g. rats not always attacking you when in sight, this is done well in New Vegas for example, and it makes it so much more realistic.

Fan-frickin-tastic poll! While I would love for a lot of these to be implemented, we gotta be realistic here, this poll alone is like 4 extra game discs. Skirts over greaves for female characters! I want to watch my enemy whimper in fear, sobbing on the floor!

if there is anything i missed, please tell me, i have a whole question left

all/most of these changes should be easy to implement :intergalactic:

and keep this thread up if you like the way the poll is going

i hope bethesda checks out this poll, bethesda knew that their fans wanted a new elder scrolls, but do they know most of their fans loved morrowind more then oblivion?
