Tip for getting Hod out of his House

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:47 am

So I bought the Falkreath plot (note, I had never talked to the Jarl there so I did his two quests and he let me buy some land from his steward).

Good location, not too far from Riverwood (and three corundum veins, which you'll need and a shrine of Talos). Naturally I want to run down to Riverwood to get some logs from Hod.

But if your game is like mine, Hod stays in his house all day unless prompted to come down to the mill. The way to get him out of his house is to activate the log pile and then the lever to saw the log. This always seems to get Hod to come down to the mill.

Just a tip.

Oh, and home ownership is definitely going to be a challenge. Got attacked by a Frost Dragon when I got back to the house after visiting Riverwood. Kind of a house warming (freezing?) party for the dragon born. :)

I've done that before. But just activating the mill will get him to come out as well. That way you are not trespassing if you sided with Hadvar. And you can be doing other things while he is walking down to the mill.

As I said, I had never talked to the Jarl before, so I just did his two short quests (bring black-briar mead, clear Embershard Mine) and he said I could buy land from his Steward.

OMG!! About an hour before I DLed Hearthfire I got a rescue mission from Gunnar. Guess who it is.... Hod!!

Lots of NPCs get stuck in their house - just go in and out again. The same thing happens with Ahtar the Jailer in Jala's house, Solitude.

EDIT: Hope he doesn't die because I got the courier's message from the steward of Falkreath.
