Tips and advice for a stuck adventurer in Daggerfall?

My character accepted a quest from Mage's Guild in Daggerfall to retrieve a rare daedric's heart. He immediately went to the dungeon, armed with his silver dai-katana. Only skeletons posed some challenge. In search for the heart, he discovered a weird wall that looked like red bricks, but when activated, it teleports you around! Undaunted, he explored the new area, and discovers another of this teleporter wall thing. Each leads to a dead end, requiring activating of next red brick wall. Now finally he arrived at a section that didn't have any red brick wall, but had this spinning wheel thingy you can activate. However, the only door leading out of this section is locked, and his pathetic lockpicking skills wasn't adequate. So how do he get out of this jam? He forgot to set recall point. Only have heal and recall and the 3 other spells you start with.

I could reload a previous saved game, but I'd like to see if I can figure this out. Tips?

If the door is not magically locked you can bash it down.
Just keep swinging your weapon (or fists) at the locked door
