Tips for a New Vegas Fan just starting 3?

I agree with you, but Enclave-BoS cooperation will never happen as both factions are noted for their strict isolationism and refusal to work with anyone but themselves. And besides, the Enclave exists because of its people's firm loyalty to the US government. The Brotherhood exists because an Army captain deserted, founded a monarchy in a bunker and removed all references to the Old World from his little utopia.

Why shun Col. Autumn's plans? He is the one who refused to massacre everyone in the Wasteland. He gave James a chance to surrender, offered him a job, warned him several times that this is no joke. Of course if you support the Enclave's past plans of global genocide go ahead, but you suggesting cooperation with the BoS suggests that you don't like the idea of a mass graveyard.

But there is hope after all. The Enclave is not dead. Elder Lyons admits this himself (while not generally the most reliable person, I trust him in this obviously) and the Enclave most likely still possesses several bases and numbers enough to sustain population. There may be unopened vaults with people in them.
Whenever the next Fallout is announced, I will 24/7 campaign for Enclave involvement as the good guys, or at least as the equivalent of Mr. House as in the "neutral third guy".

The problem in making the Enclave the good guys, is that who would be the bad guys?

The Enclave are an easy 'evil' group as they are 'faceless,' while the player is introduced to Elder Lyons and he seems like a kindly grandfather. Thus putting a bias in the players mind.

To the OP : Try swimming your way to Rivet City and you'll get some easy quests and experience here. But DON'T speak to Dr Li or you'll shortcut the main quest. Along the way you willm also discover new places and collect some basic equipment fitting the level of your character. Getting overpowered weapons and armor too early would ruin the game

Wouldn't the Mirelurks be a problem?

To tell you the truth, I had the exact same reaction when I first heard Eden.

Never having heard Eden before being locked up, I had a negative first impression.

But I think Clive the lone wanderer likes him. He has some good ideas.

What I more meant was, the Enclave is not the idiotic villain with an unguarded nuke in its basemant, as is the tradition with Fallout villains.
I'd like that the Enclave was a small outpost, but somehow important like the player was an Enclave trooper. The next Bethesda's Fallout will most likely happen in the Institute, so I can imagine the Enclave being involved with it somehow.

You never listened to Enclave radio before being sent to Raven Rock? Well I suppose I can imagine that was an awkward conversation with him.

"I'm sure you've heard my radio broadcasts."

"Who are you again?"

I remember my first few minutes outside the vault, I quickly found Enclave Radio, and listened to it nonstop for several hours while wandering and dying around the Capital Wasteland. Suffice to say, I genuinely believed that the Enclave has seen error in their ways and try to make up for their sins.

Pretty much the same for me.

Eden's voice is a comforting thing out in the wasteland.
