If you get dehydrated, drink out of a lake, river, toilet, sink etc for instant removing hydrating illness and carry a certain amount of water bottles if you not near another those things.

if you can beat the game on normal i reckon you can beat it on hardcoe mode, its quiet easy all you need is food water and sleep, food is easy to find there are plenty of water resources and a bed can't be too far from wherever you are. The hardest thing about hardcoe mode is that stimpacks don't heal instantly making deathclaws harder to fight, otherwise just stay in cover until the stimpacks heal you. Also doctors bags are a pain to find and pretty expensive and ammo weight is gonna make you choose wisely on what you pick up, if you don't plan making trips back home this will become annoying. This will probably be hard for you if you have troubles playing the game on normal mode and if you already started be careful with your companions because if they die they will be dead forever (not sure if they will respawn if you go back to normal mode) . and another tip is to make constant saves especially if you think you are going to take some heat.

I play exclusively on HC mode in FONV and it does add a certain challange. What i do to keep ammo weight down is only use 2 or 3 calibers. Like 9mm and 5.56 so instead of carrying around several different guns, and the ammo for them all, i carry usually a pistol a rifle, and 300 rds of the primary weapon ammo and less than 100 of the secondary for example in a 9mm and 5.56 load out i would carry 300 5.56 and 75 9mm. I like to also use some food recipies that cover both food and hydration, bloatfly sliders for example are a good choice. Another cheap trick is if you have items like scrap electronics or scrap metal break them down into the base components same thing for ammo. If you are using .357 and find yourself with a 100 or so rounds of 9mm break the 9mm down, as a collection of small pistol primers, pistol powder, lead, copper, and 9mm casings those same 100 9mm rounds weight nothing you can always restore it to a functional round for sale or use at a bench.

Hope this help

I think the best thing to learn from hardcoe is Inventory Management. You're not going to be carrying around everything, especially with how ammo has weight. Tending to your dehydration, starvation, and sleep deprivation is key. Nuka-Cola can tend to Sleep Deprivation quite nicely, especially considering it's rate increases the slowest and water can off-set it's dehydration increase. Try to carry only what you are going to be using and make trips to your safehouse once in a while to drop off loot and such.

Survival was practically created for hardcoe, so it's recommended that you focus on it. Medicine is still needed though for Doctor's Bags, Rad-X, and Rad-Away. Personally, I've gone through the vanilla game and Dead Money without using a Stimpack on a character on hardcoe. Quite fun and challenging not relying on them at times but I've gotten used to it.

Lots of ways to go about finishing hardcoe mode. Some are just easier than others.
