Tips on how to get a good looking female character

Post » Sun Sep 29, 2013 11:00 pm

So I've been messing around for two days now, trying to make a reasonably good looking female character, but I'm still kind of frustrated. Using Shiloh DS came pretty close but I gave up on using that custom race because I couldn't even get leather armor to work without issues with it. Anyway, I'm open to all suggestions. Currently I'm using the Beware of Girl Type3 replacer and Ling's Coiffure NV, but I've tried Shiloh DS, Mojave Delight and Project Mikito as well. Which setup are you guys using for your female characters?

I don't use any setup of mods for my characters because I don't think that my male nor female characters need to look extraordinary, I mean, you spend most of the time in first person or looking at the characters back anyway, so why bother with making them look outstanding? If it's for screenshots then I still don't get it cause every time I see someone with tons of mods to make their character look special the Courier ends up looking out of place since most other NPC's don't look as detailed.

Personally, I don't see the point. I can create good looking female characters without any mods so why would I bother cluttering up the load order with even more mods just so that 0.5% of the gameplay will look slightly better? Especially when those mods generally just make the female Courier look like a model/barbie.

(My suggestion: Ditch the mods, they're pointless.)

This has never been a big deal to me neither. I usually just pick one of the ready to go faces. Focus on the story not on the details. I think Fallout 3 is one of those games that does not need modifications to be great. It already looks beautiful. ;)

Warning to lore-mongers: You might want to skip over this post

I make my own custom races mixing a variety of different mods together but the base is generally Beware of Girl Type 3 or the original Type 6 which may no longer be available. http://static1.nexusmods.com/130/images/130/1415093-1380298483.jpg uses a customized http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42367//? but I have used Mojave Delight as well as the face textures that come with Dimon's Type 3. The biggest difference to me is the head mesh that I use but I can unfortunately no longer remember where it came from.

Have you tried Nuska's http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/51084//? or maybe http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/51166/??

Nope, I will check them out. Thanks for the tip! Anyway, here's my current issue: I'm using Beware of Girl Type 3, the Girl Next Door race in Mojave Delight and exeter's New Vegas Type3 Armor conversions - plus the glove and wrist fixes for leather armor. And still my chars left hand ends up http://i.imgur.com/mCbDzUM.jpg. I guess it's because I'm using a custom race which changes the PiP/hand mesh or whatever, but that doesn't help me as I still don't know how to fix it. Argh! I'll try to get a face I can live with with the vanilla caucasian race - but so far they have ended up with awful faces.
