I did. It didn't change anything. I thought maybe mlox might have missed something. Mlox did load up a file before something that it wasn't suppose to though. Had to fix it myself. That's why i thought I might get a better answer from you guys.

Goes last? Companions. You don't want anything to follow them if you can help it, because that sometimes screws up the scripting.

Mlox is too old and outdated to be even remotely of use.

Should I not use mlox then? Is there something better? And I don't think I have any companion mods, but if I get one, I'll put it near the bottom.

I respectfully disagree. Although it would be nice to see john.moonsugar drop his head in here again.

There's nothing newer, that's the problem. The mlox beta isn't even remotely complete with even the most popular of mods. :(

I never used mlox so I can't comment on it, but here's the basics of what I do:

-Use TEStool to generate a detailed conflict report. (creating a file named TESconflicts.log)
-Open TESconflicts.log. At the end of the document, there will be a list of conflicting mods. At the top, the reasons why they conflict.
-Decide which mod will have priority over which. If you use Wrye Mash, you can easily redate your mods to make your desired order.

Oh and don't worry about the Helluva Merchant plugin, it tends to clash with a lot of mods, but it's usually minor/harmless conflicts.
If you want me to go more into details, feel free to ask. I just want to avoid boring you to death if you're not interested in that method.

I'd like to disagree as well. mlox isn't as well or currently maintained as BOSS is for Oblivion, true. However, considering that a lot of people are using a lot of mods that have been around for a while, and whose problems/needed patches/whatever and place in the load order are known by mlox, I think mlox is still useful. (Not sure what "popular" mods you think mlox is missing Alexandr, but mlox covers a fair number of them--LGNPC, the UOMP, economy and herbalism mods, various popular companions and quest mods, etc. etc. If your version of mlox is missing these, you don't have the latest mlox_base.txt file, which is a separate download IIRC.)

mlox is a great "foundational" tool for getting the right LO set up. Regardless of how "current" it is, it'll give you a good working order to start with, and pick up on little mistakes like accidentally activating the .esm and .esp file for a mod when the readme says choose only one. (This was a problem with White Wolf of Lokken especially, at least until mlox came around.)

FWIW, I like to consider myself an advanced mod user--I could probably build my own stable, properly ordered mod list from scratch. I still use mlox, because it saves me a lot of time and effort. Things that mlox doesn't cover I tackle by hand and readme still.

My procedure for modding MW up is always:

- install mods
- run mlox to get a starter LO and eliminate any stupid mistakes on my part.
- use TESPCD to get a conflict report. TESPCD spits out a lot of false positives and conflicts that are really harmless, but it's useful for landscape conflicts and the like. Eliminate and/or re-order mods (with Wrye Mash) as necessary.
- re-order any mods not covered by mlox that I know need to be moved to specific spots in the LO.
- clean "dirty" mods, as necessary, with TESTool.
- use TESTool to generate a Merged Objects file.
- use Wrye Mash to generate Mashed Lists.
- play the game.
