Electrical Resistance. AVs love the shock spell. Level 7, RUN. Seriously, You can hear them moaning from a long way off. I enter a dungeon and hear that moan and I aint level 15 and packing Kick butt gear, I turn right around and leave. Sorry Little Girl from the Fighters Guild quest, my insurance doesnt cover vampirism and all that Stendarr is a merciful god crap is just PR. You still get charged for Cure Disiese.

Wow, 7 and already with the ancients? Didn't think they came so soon. Try spell reflection or invisibility...I think being invisible helps, it's been a while though. Also stay out of touch range, they love electrical spells that work on touch. If you're a fighter, use archery.

From my personal experience, Invisibly (both Normal and True) has diminished, if any, effect on undead opponents. They always seem to be able to find me - maybe it's just me, though?

Anyway, remember that failing one quest isn't the end of the world - it's perfectly okay to just leave a dungeon when you hear an Ancient coming and take a different quest.

It's not just you. I'm pretty sure invisibility spells don't work as well/at all with undead. Which svcks because undead are tough opponents. What about camouflaging spells (chameleon, shadowform)?

Mirror spells help if they don't save vs spell them. And praying helps.

Potions of Shock Resistance: if I remember right, for me one potion woulld usually last for one Ancient Vampire fight (sometimes two if the fights were back to back). Or spells, but potions don't use up your magicka.

As far as vampirism (and lycanthropy), Cure Disease (spells or potions): on a regular basis as a precaution while fighting vampires or lycanthropes, or wait and see if you get the dream and cure it immediately after that (waiting for the dream is risky, especially if you don't let your character sleep very often).

You can try getting them stuck on the geometry of the dungeon, such as a corner or doorway, while you shoot at them with stuff. Doesn't always work, though. I once had to resort to breaking into the void and pelting a VA with a rather absurd number of arrows (thank goodness I had that "create item" spell to refill my quiver!) before he died. Of course, then I had to spend a good while looking for a way back out of the void and into the dungeon proper, which was rather educational.

Yeah, I'm not positive. The thing is, in my mind's eye I can see VA's just standing there with their backs to me while I come up on 'em. Maybe in those cases I'm just really good at Sneaking.
