Titles

Alright I'm going to apologize in advance if there is already a thread like this one so that i can gleefully ignore any complaints about this later.

I was playing Oblivion a while ago and the thought occurred to me after I mastered my favorite "Blunt weapons"
Except even after the mind-numbingly long time it took to achieve said "Master" rank I felt as though I didn't really do anything besides swing my axe wherever I went.
So I was thinking that it would be cool to be able to fight some barbarian worrier that was known to be a master of said skill, Or a sword master for the blade skill.

So I wanted to know how many other people thinks it might be awesome to be able to compete with any master of any particular skill (such as Marksmen, Acrobatics, Barehanded, ex...)
and take the title of being the master of the corresponding skill.

After all its pretty hard to imagine your champion being the master of something when all you did is endlessly choke down some berries, swing an axe, or sit in a corner of a dark room and force otherworldly creatures to be your friends.
Instead of beating the tar out of someone who is said to already be the best in their respected fields.

I thought you meant titles like "Sture the Great" or "Klas the Criminal scum" but this is nice too :)

With the removal of attributes, skills will become very important in the game. There will be QUESTS tailored for every skill you pursue, and perhaps even rewards and artifacts. A master of Enchanting could receive a quest for Azura's Star. A master of 2 handed weapons (Swords) could receive the Chrysamere as a reward. I think that there will be plenty of ways to distinguish ourselves with mastery

Well that does sound cool to be given a quest for spending hours on end on polishing a desired skill set. It might just get really annoying to spend all that time just to get one item for all of your troubles.
An I apologize if it just sounds like I'm complaining, I by no means mean to offend, I'm just a simple fan an thought this might be an interesting concept.
But yea SkyrimViking that sounds like a pretty cool thing to. After all what better why for the people to show that your famous than calling you by title? (and handing out free crap XD)

i think you should be able to fight the master, and just knock them unconscious to win, because if their a master, they should be able to keep living and being a master because they probably worked just as hard as you to achieve it. then they're just not the best anymore. then you could have them as a friend or sparing partner.

unless they hate you and become your rival. lol

On another note, I will miss my Divine Crusader/Knight of the Imperial Dragon titles.

No, but if it was added I would like various annoying individuals to turn up from time to time to try and take my title off me.

That would make getting money a little easier if all you have to do is crush any hopeful that tries for your head. An having an invincible sparring partner would help to max out a few more skills. (hand to hand, blade, axe, etc...)
