He was a true hero without him Tamriel would pretty much be thalmor land by now or in complete chaos.

He managed to re-form the Empire with nothing but pure, undiluted badassery instead of relying on the mandate of heaven like everyone else.

I don't know if that makes him a hero, but it makes him one bad mother [censored], that's for damn sure.

What Jara said. Men are certainly better off with him, at least compared to having nothing. Maybe someone better would have come along, but we'll never know. Hero and Villain really don't apply in this situation.

I agree with Jara and Lady N, but I have to add one small thing: being a badass is pretty much all it takes to make you into a hero, as far as I'm concerned. Ultimately, I'm opposed to the guy, but I'm also impressed by him.

Hero? Hero of who? Man? NoMaybe. Regardless of his lack of ties to the Septim Empire he still owed Talos for everything he had. Instead he allows his worship to be banned, or so we are led to believe. If Mede hadn't reforged the Empire somebody else would have.

Titus didn't ban the worship of Talos, nor was any of that mentioned in the books. I bet you during tjhe war between the Thalmor, it was a different Mede who was forced to ban it. Likely Attrebus's kid or grandkid.

Well, you're right about that not be mentioned in the book, but iirc, neither was Talos mentioned much if at all. This all remains to be seen. I heard a theory about Titus trying to distinguish himself and his new Empire from the Septim Empire, and the best way to do that would be to lean away from Talos worship. But this is just a theory.

Where is the neither option? He was simply a man who got [censored] done. If he was evil, he was a necessary one. If he was good, he was not without his flaws. The man reforged the Empire. That in of itself is impressive. If only his legacy and heirs to his throne didn't ban the worship of Talos I would say he did Tamriel a service. But with Talos nearly erased from the Mythic humans have a bit of a problem in the damn Thalmor.

We don't know. He could be a tyrannical dictator. He could be a fairly benevolent Emperor like Uriel.

History is written by the victors. Plus, he was a fairly young man in the books, I believe (his hair wasn't totally gray). Could hve changed. Maybe the Great War was the Dominion trying to take advantage of Imperial weakness.

I'm suspicious of him and all his ilk.

He was shown to be quite shrewd politician and a great tactician. Extremely horrified about being a dad, however.

Facing down legions of opposing warlords is MUCH easier than being a father -_-
